There is an important principle at stake here which is, whether or not the United States Government should or should not fund Cowboy Poetry Festivals. And not just Cowboy Poetry but a myriad, a huge variety of other equally worthwhile programs. Should we support them even as we run out of money? Should we borrow the money to support them? If we can’t borrow the money then print it? The Dems say we absolutely should support such projects. If we ever fund a program then we are obligated to fund it forever. Even if it means shutting down the government, even if it means the troops don’t get paid. Even if it means the U.S. Government rushes headlong towards insolvency. Even if it means mortgaging our children’s future. The Congress must never, ever cut even one penny of one line item of the budget. Indeed, every line item must grow, every year. That’s the important principle here. Except defense of course. The Dems are entirely willing to cut defense, even as we fight two, no, make that three wars.
