Suggest me a Stripped .308 Lower

Fulton Armory, JD Machine Tech, DPMS?

I don’t know of a lot of manufacturers. Have any recommendations?

mega and armalite

mega sells a fitted upper and lower together

More info:

I would like the DPMS/Knights pattern mag compatability. I don’t care if its billet or forged, and I don’t care if it has a matching upper, as I’m going to build this rifle out as funds permit.

I picked up a Tactical Machining .308 lower a couple months back. It follows the same pattern as the KAC/DPMS rifles, with a few changes that make sense to me (traditional rear takedown pin detent/spring with an included .050 set screw to tension it and another .050 set screw on the bolt catch pivot pin).

The machining and finish seem very nice. My .308 pmags drop free, but with a little friction that may be more to do with the magazine catch than the mag well. They also make stripped uppers that match the lines nicely.

For the price, which was less than the MEGA by quite a bit, I have no complaints. I’ve never seen anything bad about them, and their customer service seems to be top notch.

probably not for everybody. but i am waiting on this.

Stupid question, but what upper(s) go with the AXTS lower?

Thanks,

Looks like it’s built for KAC/DPMS pattern. Note the curved area by the extension. Armalite pattern is angled rather than curved.

+1 … Id stick with angled. I have an LMT MWS upper on a Knights SR25 lower. The Larue is also angled.

Would say AR10-A (recently available that takes DPMS/SR25 mag pattern) would be the value play.

I’ve been looking at the Mega MA-TEN receivers. Daddy like

I have used one of these as well and agree completely. I don’t think there is a better deal in a KAC/DPMS format lower. They usually go for around $220 give or take. No issues putting mine together and works with 3 different mags.

For example, 2 options (I can recommend rifle gear, but not the other one)

Should have added, I really like Mega’s offerings, but I couldn’t rationalize the extra expense in this case.

I may have to rethink that, however, when the new Mega MKM-MATEN comes out.
