A buddy suggested the following workout. I scoffed at him, the ‘easiness’ and simplicity, I thought, would be no match for me. Wrong.
A 2-mile walk (or any distance you choose). That’s right…walk, not run. Carry dumbells of any medium weight. Walk fast, very fast (for me a slightly-faster than a 15-min mile), and alternate sets of curls, shoulder presses, front and lateral raises. Repeat the sets until you are finished with your walk.
The first time I did this I was out of breath pretty good, and felt a little burn. The next day I could barely move. Now I do this about once or twice a week for variety. I think the next step is adding a weighted vest or a rucksack.
I might look like a dork, but the funny thing is a) I am getting a great workout, and b) I don’t really give a shit what people think about me or how I look.
Ill give it a shot. Likely I will wait until nighttime since I run then anyway. I imagine its killer. I used to see this guy running around with a cinder block in his hands; well it would begin as a run, then it looked like a duck waddle toward the end. That guy was ripped and he would beat the piss out of folks in the local toughman matches.
Also doing one thing only all the time isnt a stupid simple workout, its just a stupid one. If you do something “hard” long enough your body gets really good at it and it is no longer beneficial. Also, if you do a simple work out with no thought into how or why it benifits your end goal you might as well go do jazzercize. I dont doubt that occasionally it would be a great workout (Ive done DB and BB carries for a mile before) making it a “routine” is not smart.
I’m Jealous, I wish I could just walk through town doing this, it combines all areas of working out at one time, but I live in a small town EVERYONE knows me lol
