Stupid-simple workout

A buddy suggested the following workout. I scoffed at him, the ‘easiness’ and simplicity, I thought, would be no match for me. Wrong.

A 2-mile walk (or any distance you choose). That’s right…walk, not run. Carry dumbells of any medium weight. Walk fast, very fast (for me a slightly-faster than a 15-min mile), and alternate sets of curls, shoulder presses, front and lateral raises. Repeat the sets until you are finished with your walk.

The first time I did this I was out of breath pretty good, and felt a little burn. The next day I could barely move. Now I do this about once or twice a week for variety. I think the next step is adding a weighted vest or a rucksack.

Sureit will be good but you will look like a dork

I might look like a dork, but the funny thing is a) I am getting a great workout, and b) I don’t really give a shit what people think about me or how I look.

do it on the tredmill… you look like a dork on that thing no matter what.

Well, if the dumbbells are 75 pd’ers, sure onlookers won’t say it.

I like it! Sounds like a good time. What weight are you using?

Ill give it a shot. Likely I will wait until nighttime since I run then anyway. I imagine its killer. I used to see this guy running around with a cinder block in his hands; well it would begin as a run, then it looked like a duck waddle toward the end. That guy was ripped and he would beat the piss out of folks in the local toughman matches.

Depends on how I feel, usually 100 lb. Kidding…usually 30 or 35 lb.

Hmm. 30-35 sounds like a lot for this routine…NOT kidding. I’ll try it first and see though.

I’ll not kid you…it beats the hell out of me. In all honesty, I could likely go down 5 lbs as I am certain at the end of 2 miles my form goes to pot.

Just be carefull. That will put a lot of stress on your low back especially once you get fatigued.

Also doing one thing only all the time isnt a stupid simple workout, its just a stupid one. If you do something “hard” long enough your body gets really good at it and it is no longer beneficial. Also, if you do a simple work out with no thought into how or why it benifits your end goal you might as well go do jazzercize. I dont doubt that occasionally it would be a great workout (Ive done DB and BB carries for a mile before) making it a “routine” is not smart.

I’m Jealous, I wish I could just walk through town doing this, it combines all areas of working out at one time, but I live in a small town EVERYONE knows me lol

I’ll just say what an old girlfriend of mine told me…“it only seems kinky the first time”. :o

That is signature line material!
