I’ve read nearly every semi-recent article on any and all low power variable optics. This includes the 1-4 optics thread and all of BIGJIMS reviews. I’m struggling to make a decision. The weapon is a BCM 14.5" LW BFH 1:7 with 13" KMR rail. The reason I went with the LW profile is because it will be used mainly for coyote calling/ stalking which involves a lot of walking here in Iowa. I have several other AR’s with micro T1’s, 3x magnifiers, eotech’s, 2.5-10’s, 4.5-14’s, etc… I currently hunt with a BCM 16" with TA31RCO (see below). It’s a great setup and works great, but I get bored easily. I really want a bit more magnification so I’ve been looking at the USO 1-8, vortex razor 1-6, z6i swaro, kahles k16i, cqbss, VCOG, etc… MY top 4 right now are k16i, z6i, vortex and VCOG. I love the kahles and swaro scopes for the light weight and glass, the vortex for the durability, reliability and value and the VCOG for the durability and lack of need for scope rings. Money aside, which scope is the right answer and with which reticle? I typically shoot between 75-200 yards but at times they will sneak up tight on me and others will hang up at 300 yards. I typically use 65-77gr bullets that I hand load. Also, I’m looking at NV/thermal setup in the near future and I’m not sure if one scope is better than the other for that. Any help is appreciated. Thank you much.
