In upper central Ct I’m paying $100 for a striped S&W lower at Hoffmans Guns in Newington. Don’t get hosed :bad:
Way to expensive. For $150 more you could get a complete lower. I bought a few two years ago from G&R a LMT and a BCM both for about $330.
Those sound like 2008/2009 gouging prices.
G&R sells S&W lowers for $115.
$299 for a complete lower. That is a good deal. The lowers I mentioned above came w/o stocks. This one comes with an M4 stock.
Here is what I would buy if I were looking today. Click on blemished and $71 comes of the price.

For $69 more you get a complete lower. Unusual the stock. Check out prices you can nit get a quality LPK for $69…
Aim Surplus has Spikes stripped lowers for $79. I just bought 2 the other day.
Ive also been using the Aero Precision receivers.Excellent quality and price.Ive been very impressed with the quality/features of their COP upper.
AP just needs to do a bit better marketing to get their AP branded products out there.A dedicated website to the AR line with dealer listing would be a good start.
Here is an interesting article on their quality standards.

The lack of “my RRA or S&W lower is out of spec” posts on this forum which do not include the term PMAG doesn’t support your supposition.
All of my guns run PMags. I would not buy a gun/lower if I knew they wouldn’t run PMags. I thought S&W fixed the PMag issue.
I thought so too.
Steve. Are you having trouble with a. Es gun? I have about a 50/50 split of GI/PMags. I’ve heard of issues with some guns that EMags solve. But then GI mags seem to run in everything and for less money.
Zimmerman Arms in AZ has the Aero Precision upper for $68
Bought an AP upper on Monday and had it here in NC on Thurs

Don’t forget to look in the EE here @ M4C. There are several different lowers for sale there…

.
The well known issues with RRA supports my conclusion precisely. Please think a little further ahead.
Please post some supporting documentation rather than trying to be vague. As I said, those reports are not on this forum. Please feel free to spout more unsupported opinion as fact. And remember, the topic is stripped lowers, not bolts, barrels, FCG’s etc.
You can lead a horse to water… With all the well-known problems surrounding RRA, I guess their lowers are immune from the QC issues that plagues other parts of their products. Why do you feel their lowers have an out of spec rate on par with Colt, BCM, etc.? What in that companies track record would make you think that? I don’t need to personally drive a Yugo to know I have a higher probability of problems when compared with other cars.
You are missing the point. The point being one would have a higher probability of getting an out of spec receiver with RRA based on the companies track record. Why take the chance?
I was going to pick up one of the S&W lowers from G&R (its a pretty good deal), but i just couldnt pass up a Noveske from dsg…
You missed the original point when you began your argument. Point was if both stripped lowers are made of forged 7075T6 and in spec, then what would make one better than the other. That was the original question that was posed which you began arguing with. So you’re assuming that you’d get an out of spec lower based on the quality of their BCG’s, barrels, FCG compontents. Like I said, the lack of “my RRA lower is out of spec” posts on this forum do not support the conclusion that their lowers are somehow inferior or have a higher rate of being out of spec compared to any other in spec forged 7075T6 stripped lower. I don’t need to own an RRA stripped lower to conclude that their stripped lowers aren’t an issue. The lack of those posts, on this forum in particular, is telling of a non-issue with their stripped lowers, that is why I don’t have a problem with them. If a problem with their lower receivers was anything akin to a Yugo, then this forum would be the first place you’d hear about it. What information do you have that shows their out of spec rate for stripped lowers is substantially higher?
It is well known here, and other forums, that RRA receivers are tight. (To appease the fit and finish crowd.)
Meaning, it is a bitch to push the take down pin out.
Many members of this forum don’t want a lower they have to use a tool to field strip their rifle.
For me personally, it’s a deal breaker.
+1
I built up a RRA lower and put a BCM upper on it. The front pin was so tight, I could not break it loose without a punch. The upper worked fine on my other lowers. I also tried a LMT, Colt, and Noveske upper on that lower and still the same result. That was also a deal breaker for me, and I sold off that lower.
