Are there superior lights for AR’s available?
Yes, but of the two which would you mount on an AR? (and yes, I know there are much better quality lights available…)
As it is, I have two of the Scorpions.
Thanks!

I have the Scorpion on mine and it works well.
I use a PolyTac LED on my rifle. I have an incandescent Scorpion which I bought for work a long time ago. I didn’t really like it and don’t use it anymore. The rubber on the body is prone to cracking and splitting in the tail switch area, which it also obscures. It also tends to start slipping off over time. The aluminum head is quite soft and will bend if dropped. It was also pretty dim, though the LED model is better. On the other hand, I’m very happy with the PolyTac which has a nice tail switch, is bright enough for target ID out to at least 50 yards and has been pretty durable so far.
I had a polytac on my rifle for a long time, it only got replaced once I got a mini scout. The polytac is still my favorite handheld flashlight, way cheaper & brighter than the surefire G series lights. For $39 on amazon they’re hard to beat and it’s affordable to keep a few around the house & garage. They are also very durable, my old rifle one is now my work flashlight, it gets beat up & dropped pretty often…without any issues.
Used a PolyTac for three years and still do. Mounted on a shotgun for a while and ran just fine with eight buckshot, bird shot or slugs. Now I carry it in my bag when I am out and about. Bright, dependable and inexpensive. I want to get an RCS clip and see if it works, as this would really round out the light for EDC. It has been dropped in a creek and dried off right away with no ill effects, left in the car during the summer and, again, no ill effects. Streamlight is also conveniently located here in PA, and my one time dealing with their CS went great. A great light for the price.
I’ve had a lot of polytacs on ARs over the years. A couple of them flickered from recoil which I suppose isn’t much of an issue for most non-mil folks though. Other than that for the money it’s a decent option.
