The issue:
Sighting in Trijicon RMR, I took out the magazine to check # of rounds, and reinserted. Upon reinsertion, magazine seemed to “over-insert”, jamming the bolt catch and the magazine release, preventing movement. Magazine could not be pulled out. Was able to finally get the mag out by bracing the stock against shooting rest and pulling with great force until magazine was free. The issue did not occur again afterwards.

The fix?

Bad magazine? Perhaps the Norgon was improperly installed? Something else?

Is your Norgon sticking in the “released” position allowing over insertion?

In addition, check the mag catch slot on the PMag. Just had to retire a couple that over time(use) it deformed on the bottom portion which allowed it to over insert and caused the carrier to drag. It started causing enough drag to induce a malfunction. And no, I do not pound my mags in, seat and tug-just metal on plastic over time. Also, check fitment of the mag catch itself to insure it’s not jammed as stated above or not set properly.

Gen 3 pmags have over insertion stops built into the mag body that generally prevent this kind of thing.

Not sure, I’ll have to watch and see if that’s the case.

Thanks, I’ll look over the mags. Sadly I did not number the mags (I was using 4 at the time) so I lost track of which mag it was.

Well, I bought a shitload of mags from brownells so kind of stuck with Gen 2’s for now. Maybe I’ll buy a bunch of new mags and next election I can try to sell some off some of the old ones :stuck_out_tongue:
