Stock option for the LMT .308 MWS... Feedback please

I have had my LMT .308 MWS for over a year now and I have changed the configuration many times. The current state of the rifle features the 18" SS 5r barrel and I just stepped up to a NightForce 3.5-15x50 ZS NP-R1 reticle. I was lucky enough to have a friend that wanted my 2.5-10X32 ZS NP-R2 and traded :D.

I like the Sopmod stock but I feel it’s not optimal for this set up and I want to hear from others that either own a MWS with a similar set up or OBR, Predator or SR-25. Etc.

BTW, nice optic for that Tzoid.

The easy & common fix is the MagPul PRS for 18"
I know some units’ using the PRS that seem to be happy w/ that setup.

I have been thinking about the PRS and may go that route. I do have a 16" CL barrel as well and I was hoping that I could quickly change the stocks when I change barrels. Maybe not if I go with the PRS.

Will the buffer tube and spring work with the PRS or do I have to change that as well?

Are you looking for a better stock weld to go with the optics? Are you looking for more rigidity/less stock wiggle? I get the impression weight isn’t too much of an issue. Have you thought about the Magpul UBR?

There is no stock wiggle with a LMT Sopmod so it’s more about Cheekweld. Especially shooting prone.

ETA: I guess I misread your post. You do have to change out for PRS stock. In your post I thought we were back on 16" carbine length w/ SOPMOD stock.
I’m assuming since you have an 18" your looking for more longer shots & PRS require Rifle length tube/spring.

I’ve yet to find anything that even comes close to touching what a UBR brings to a precision orientated AR, especially one that is shot prone.

Not a PRS fan, as it’s just too much of a stock for such an inherently quick handling, and agile rifle that even precision type ARs usually represent.

The only con I see to getting the MWS setup for a UBR is the somewhat high cost to do so.

$250 for the UBR
$114 for a Slashes Heavy buffer with spring

So $365 is a chunk of change considering how high quality of a stock the package of a SOPMOD, and LMT RE are for “free”, or as is.

I honestly don’t see what the UBR will give me that the Sopmod doesn’t already. This set up with the 18" barrel for me just needs more than a stock I would run on a 16" AR.

Just this day, I replaced my SOPMOD with a Magpul ACS. The main reason I went with that is I wanted more toe for using a sock. The SOPMODs lower angle it kept slipping.

If the ACS doesn’t work out, I will go with the UBR.

Yes. The UBR has a standard length RE, versus the LMTs slightly longer.

If you plan on running your MWS primarily from the deck the PRS is a great option. I run one on my 18" OBR and I like it a lot. Great cheek weld and is very solid when using a rear bag (this is where the SOPMOD sucks)… It will change the entire feel of your MWS.

The PRS is a great precision stock, not a great all around stock, but it excels off the deck shooting long…

I’ve been using a Magpul PRS on a GAP 308 for a number of years… It’s probably the best option out there but I’ve been waiting for a good alternative. It works but not ideal IMO.
