STG-2000-C...any good ?

A question for the resident AK-47 experts here…

In the March issue of SWAT magazine there is an article about the I.O.INC STG-2000-C rifle.

I did a search here but didn’t find much info about it.

Is this a decent entry level AK?

I’m new to AK’s and interested in picking one up due to ammo costs and the current political climate. My local fun shop has a STG-2000-C for $450.00 and a few WASR’s for $390.00. I’m in New York state so prices here are often higher than other parts of the country.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Thanks

The quality is comparable to the WASR series, they’re basically the same rifle but the StG has an “updated” (doesn’t mean better) front sight assembly/gas block.

The handguards are different, and from what I’ve seen, they tend to get loose with use.

Personally, I’d go with the WASR if you can cherry pick one that has straight sights and make sure the mags don’t have excessive play. A little side to side play is normal.

The WASR will allow you to put a lot of different stocks on there, including updated handguards if you want to dress it out, as well as an Ultimak gas tube rail system.

Thanks for the info Templar.

I did like the stock that the STG-2000 had…I felt it gave a better check rest than the wooden WASR stock.

The 2 WASR’s I saw looked very rough and I was not impressed with them…not for a $60 difference.

Anyone else have anything to add even though Templar appears to be the AK guru here.
