Steyr AUG or MSAR STG 556 in non-5.56 caliber?

I have thought about getting a bullpup rifle for a long time. However, I want something in a larger caliber then 5.56. I thought I read somewhere that the Austrian Steyr AUGs were offered in 6.8SPC in addition to the 9mm and 5.56mm options. I also see that MSAR lists 6.8SPC and 5.45/7.62x39 rounds as options (apparently the AK rounds are in production now).

Has anyone shot an AUG in something other then 5.56? How well do they work? I’m looking for something that hits hard at less then 300m and closer in. How hard is it to get magazines for non-5.56 caliber AUGs?

FWIW, I own NFA so I’m familiar with that option but, I want to stay with a non-NFA compact semi-auto rifle in an intermediate caliber.

Other than possible test prototypes, I don’t know of any Steyr AUGs in calibers other than 5.56mm. The 9mms in the US are SBRs and very hard to find and expensive.
