steel target recommendations?

My buddy has bought many targets from these guys & I have bought a couple sets myself. Mostly Gongs but they do have other styles. Never had a problem with any & they get used alot. There are others out there but we have had good luck with these !

I have an IPSC target I got from them on Amazon and am happy with, though I left it on the east coast like an idiot so I haven’t shot it in a while. I ordered https://shootsteel.com/12x25-short-range-rifle-target-complete-package/ this from shoot steel yesterday and it should be here tomorrow. Probably won’t be able to shoot it this weekend but have plans to next weekend.

I mostly use old blind flanges (it’s a pipe thing) I pick up off of my jobs.

But I’m in to see other options. Big blind flanges are HEAVY, and I’m old and puny.

Any problems with ricochets? I have one laying around. It’s about an inch thick.

Not that I have noticed. I’m hitting them from a hundred at the least so I can’t say 100%. Pretty sure all the rounds are coming apart on impact. There is a little beaten zone under them and some jacket pieces all around. They get a little beat up over time but, meh, they’re free. The bigger ones don’t visibly move, but you can tell when you hit them.

I have a few f these myself. Good prices and no problems so far. I like the new patented hanger system they came out with. I might have to try it out.

No one mentioned MGM? Pretty good stuff.

As for what, I prefer reactive steel that gives a good/better indication- A round plate with a bulls-eye hole for a second plate. The bullseye is the real target, the outer steel gives ‘miss’ indicators. Every round during training should give meaningful feedback.

The other thing is competition. My son and I have had a lot of fun with dueling trees from MGM and SHootingSystem7. Specifically in 22lr. Great way to learn and practice with higher round counts with out blowing a lot of money on ammo.

They’ve always been too expensive for it to be worth it to me.

I have bought a bunch of steel from MGM, but regardless of where you buy from CQB stuff, SLANTS are the best option for bullets to get thrown down.
