Steel cased vs. Aluminum cased ammunition

Which is better? I’m asking this in regards to pistol ammunition.

This is strictly for training and punching paper. I’m concerned with cases rupturing or being ripped apart. I’ve used some steel cased Brown Bear in the past, but palmettostatearmory.com is running a special on aluminum cased Blazer ammunition and I’d rather buy an American ammo than more Brown Bear.

Thoughts? Experiences? Thanks for any guidance on this…

I prefer Blazer to Brown Bear simply because my experience with Brown Bear has been that the powder burns significantly dirtier. That said, when Brown Bear is a dollar or more a box cheaper I buy it over Blazer.

I haven’t had problems with either brand’s pistol ammo.

I have fired a Tons of Blazer Alum. and Brass. Much cleaner than steel cased ammo.

I’ve fired over 20K+ of steel cased pistol ammo and several thousand rounds of aluminum Blazer ammo with no issues what so ever, to include several pistol and carbine courses. Blazer is pretty inexpensive these days so that’s what I currently use.

I’ve never had any issue at all with steel cased stuff in pistols. It may be a little dirty, but I am cleaning it after a range trip anyway.

For whatever reason my Springfield NM and Remington Rand HATE the blazer aluminum–but eat blazer brass just fine—I do not know why…
