Does anyone have a set of Standards of acceptable to fast Shot Timer Times for Carbine Drills of Live & Dry Fire drills?
I have a set for handgun but would like a set for goals to work toward for carbine.

I assume you’re looking for things like time to first shot from low ready, speed reload & emergency reload times, multiple targets, failure drills, etc.?
not exactly this, but have you looked at Viking Tactics channel on youtube? They have some good time-based drills.
Yes, that is what I’m talking about. I have a set for handgun created by a SWAT officer using 10 rep averages for static drills, same with movement right, left, forward, backward, etc. that are very helpful as a comparison for one’s own times. I just figured someone had a “CHART:p” for these using a carbine that I could keep on hand while training. I’m aware of Kyle’s stuff and I have to laugh at his speed on some of his drills…faaaaast:eek:
I know the guys on benos keep stuff like this, I might look over there. I was hoping to find some Tac guys info instead of gamers, but I guess 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other.
Notes from my first Pistol and Carbine I class with LAV:
Targets: NRA B8-C(P) 25 yard Repair Center Pistol Target or IPSC A cardboard.
Scoring: Everything’s got to be in the black on the bullseye target, or in the “A” zone on the IPSC target.
From 7 yards: From low ready, 2 shots to body, one to the head. Time limit: 3 seconds.
From 10 yards. Static turns from each side (left, right, rear). 2 shots into bullseye. Time limit: 4 seconds from each side.
From 10 yards. Start with one round in carbine mag. Shoot carbine once, then transition to pistol and follow up with two pistol shots. Time limit: 6 seconds.
From 12 yards. Shoot on the move, first going forward then going backward. 4 shots each way. Time limit: six seconds for each moving string.
From 20 yards: Start from low ready on strong side, then transition to weak shoulder, fire 2 shots. Time limit: 4 seconds.
From 25 yards: Start from low ready, shoot five shots. Time limit: 8 seconds.
From 50 yards: Start from standing low ready, go to kneeling, shoot five shots. Time limit: 15 seconds.
From 50 yards: From standing low ready, go to prone, shoot five shots. Time limit: 20 seconds.
As mentioned, Kyle Lamb has some very difficult indexing and speed drills from 5 yards.
2x2x2 drill, time to beat is 1.26 seconds:

1-5 drill, time to beat is 2.92 seconds:

I think that the “Half and Half” drill from Vtac is a great standard.
All shots must land within the scoring area. My favorite targets are either 6" paper plates or 5x8 index cards.
Starting position is with the gun shouldered pointing at the base of the target.
20 yards- 10 shots in 10 seconds
10 yards- 10 shots in 5 seconds
5 yards- 10 shots in 2.5 seconds
When you can meet these standards you are on your way to mastery.
Agree this is a great drill. The first two aren’t bad, but that last one is a real bitch. I’ve only managed to clean this drill once.
Katarzan-
Agreed.
The last string requires the shooter to do lots of things well whereas the other strings only really require a solid position and acceptable sight picture.
If the shooter can maintain .2 second splits he will have to break his first shot in .5 seconds to barely pass. Then again, if a shooter can consistently pass the drill he will probably be in the .15 to .18 split times.
Thanks Slut, Katarzan & F2S!
I would like to run that with turning targets. Becomes slightly different with the lag time of the turn, depending on the system used, but would be interesting to run across a large group of shooters that way and could then be scored to see where they stand.
