Standard Cut vs Swimmers Cut

Ordered up a new plate carrier and later noticed they offered two different models depending on the plate itself. I assume I will receive the regular standard SAPI plate model.

I’m curious how it would be to run a swimmer cut plate now though, seems like it would help with mobility and proper stock placement.

discuss:

Swimming in plates? do they come with floaties?

I use swimmer cute plates. The do in fact provide a greater deal of mobility and comfort.
Shooters cut plates are nearly identical to swimmer plates.

I too prefer shooter/swimmer cut plates, if only for the mobility gained when pulling items out of your kit, but they also help a bit with shooting positions standing and kneeling.
The more cut plates aren’t as much help running them with soft armor intended for ESAPI cut plates, but it’s still a bit of an improvement.

They sent me the SAPI standard cut model. They really need to add an option to their website. Apparently if you order online you will receive the standard cut model. You have to order over the phone and ask specifically for the swimmer cut model. I guess it makes sense considering most are putting standard cut plates in… shut up, I have to wait longer :p.

I was a bit disappointed in the cummerbund though, I know America is obese but this thing is huge. It’s the smallest model they make, and about the only thing I could do was remove it from the plate carrier and overlap it. Say ‘Bye’, to your side plates because half of them are on the back of your carrier. I guess I need to bulk up my girlish figure :cray: or buy airsoft equipment designed for kids.

overall LBT customer service has been good…so far.

Take your cummerbund to a shoe repair place or a heavy-duty tailor shop. They should be able to trim it down for a better fit. You can also add molle webbing to the inside of the cummerbund and position some plate pockets wherever you like if you are wanting side plates.
