Cabelas shelves are wiped out of those, but large pistol are completely in stock. People are fucking retarded imbeciles.
No one thinks they are going to ban primers. It’s likely to do with people changing their reloading habits.
For example, during the good times, I was shooting wolf in bulk for practice. For $219 a case shipped, my time was not worth the effort to load my own practice ammo.
Well, if I’m going to be reloading more .223 to replenish my wolf stocks, I better get enough primers to replace the wolf I have on hand. Primers were the hardest component to get during the last shortage. I’ve got stock, but I padded it a little bit.
I completely disagree. I’ve never seen a reloading habit shift that wiped out Cabelas in just a few days.
There’s no denying that 10 days after the CT shooting there wasn’t one pound of powder or one box of primer on the shelf that could be used to load .223 for the evil assault rifle.
It’s completely irrational, but people went ape shit for anything Weapon, Ammo, Mag or loading component related to the AR15 rifle.
(edit: The shelves were full of large pistol primer and powders for magnum rifle and pistol loading.)
I wonder if the new NY ammo restrictions have anything to do with it. Buying ammunition now requires a background check. People in NY may now be buying reloading equipment and components now when ammo is not available because they don’t have the hooks in place yet.
Primers dried up or were in very short supply in '94 also. Then they came back in stock, (and that was just a half assed ban). There are probably two or three times as many gun owners now and at least a couple million more black rifle owners - and this is the 2nd Go-Round.
Not that it’s likely to happen.

Don’t laugh. Several years ago some anti-gun group was demanding that possessing more than 1,000 rounds of ammo should constitute an “arsenal,” which would require a special permit (or be a felony). For their purposes, each primer constituted one “round” of ammunition, whether it was loaded or not.
In any case, it’s not a great leap from banning online/mail order sales of ammo to banning online/mail order sales of primer and powder.
I hope such a nutty ban won’t happen, and I don’t think it’ll happen, but if I could buy another 10,000 primers right now, then I would.

After last election why wouldnt you at least buy enough to make it through at least a year. If you are buying, and not using them that is ridiculous. I bought enough to shoot for a little over a year. When things settle down i plan on buying until i have roughly enough to shoot the rest of my life. I may end up neading something random or bullets/brass for a newly acquired firearm.
I doubt in my life there will be an all out ban on all firearms, and firearms related stuff. It probably will happen at some point, but i do not think while Im alive.

Ran out a week ago. Like many others I like to shoot and reload a few hundred a week so a box of 1K only lasts around a month.
What primers do you usually use? What primers would you be willing to substitute? Im not sure how many you were looking for, but i should be able to help you out. Do you have any ammo to shoot at this point or are you completely dry?
I should be able to help you out. I know i can find primers for you locally. Two local shops had quite a few thousand srp each. If they happen to be out i can at least dip in to my stash to keep you shooting. Hopefully until you can get some online.

I usually buy cci 400, but any small rifle primers would work. Your offer is greatly appreciated! Besides online I buy them at LGS but they have been out since the shooting incident. I would be happy to pay a premium on the price for your help! I’m looking for a couple thousand to hold me over till hopefully some are back on shelves. I do have some mags loaded with SD ammo for just in case though. I wasn’t reloading during the last run on ammo but now learned to stock up on primers. Thanks again!

Knowing a guy’s State can be helpful in all kinds of firearms discussions. Availability, Laws, etc.

I’m not payin hazmat to ship a thousand primers… just sayin… if I saw that a guy was near me, I could loan him a thowie until he could replace them.
Someone close to him might be able to help him out with a gun store that has them or sell him some of his…
Shipping Hazmat is far more involved than slapping a Hazmat sticker on the outside of the box and paying the $25. The odds of you finding an individual on forum who can do it properly are very slim. Your best bet is to either put in an order with a company that accepts backorders or watch daily the places that don’t. I’ve seen SRPs come and go a couple times in the past month. Or find them locally, that is still possible too.

Not at all. I’ve got plenty of primers. I stocked up because they were super cheap at Wideners a while back and I spread a bunch of them over one hazmat fee.

OP I can help you out, it will just have to be sometime next week. I had a surgical procedure this A.M. i can not drive for about a week. I have my follow up on Thursday next week, and should be able to get a ride to ship or i may be released to drive myself.
I can help you out with the primers as long as your address is not new York. I live in California, and hate the fact that people will not ship legal products here so i try not to do that. Yesterday I was on the nosler website, and they are not shipping anything to new York due to pending legislation. I have no problem shipping legal items, but will not break the law.
As long as you are outside of NY i will get you what you need. I only use 400’s for my small pistol loading. So it will not hurt my stash of primers i use for small rifle. I will take care of everything, if you have some 308/223 brass you can spare. I could use some i have been running a little low on 223, and just got into 308 so only have 90 pieces. I was lucky enough to get my hands on 500 rounds of m-80 ball that i will turn into brass.
If you do not have Amy brass you can spare don’t worry about it. If you find primers before i can ship it out let me know if you do not find any ill contact you a couples days before i can ship it out to get your address.

Thanks jstone, I hope your recovery from surgery goes well…don’t rush it. I am still calling and searching south east Michigan gun stores for small rifle primers daily.
No problem it is minor. I just can’t drive, because i have no feeling in my legs. It comes and goes, and they say it will last about a week.
I will pm you a couple days before, and get your info. I do not understand why one of the posts say you can not ship by just paying a fee. Unless something has changed this year. I sent some primers, bullets, and brass to a family member. All i had to do is pay, and ship it from a main hub. You can not ship from normal locations it has to be one of the large shipping centers. So as long as nothing has changed i will get you some. I do not know if it will get you through the panic buying.
Put in a back order with some place like wideners or graffs. That way you can get a good amount when they come back in stock.
I can also call a couple shops locally if you want to pick up 5-10 k. Prices locally have been right at 30-35 per k. Its not cheap but its not horrible either.
If you can not afford to buy a bunch or don’t want rely on a stranger to do it for you that’s fine. My offer still stands.
