SR-556 Recall Information?

I didn’t see anything on that page for the 556.

According to the LF link, it’s everything manufactured from November on. But still nothing official, so it’s still just a rumor at this point. If you have one, call Ruger and see what they say. And, of course, let us know.

My thoughts exactly. Ruger and recall go hand and hand. Why anyone buys their firearms is kind of beyond me.

I live within a few miles of the Ruger plant, so I get the local scoop on the company. They are a pain to deal with, and produce garbage… Any questions?

My partner got a call at the gun shop this past Thursday from Ruger. The shop had just recieved a Ruger M4, that morning for a customer.

Ruger instructed us to return the weapon to the factory for a factory recall.

Said they would send a corrected product ASAP. I listened to the call but don’t recall what the defect was.

Any update? A guy at the shop I help out at ordered his online and had it transferred. I would like to get info to him ASAP but the site still doesn’t clarify the model he has.

I buy them because I’ve owned, at least, a couple dozen over the last 24-25 years and have never had any involved in a recall or any other problem, to speak of. Outside of that, I can’t think of any reason to buy Ruger firearms.

I think most every gun they make has had a safety recall at some time or another (some have had two).

Counting this one, that’s nine and I know I am missing some (just can’t keep up with them all).

To be fair to Ruger, 3 of the 9 recalls are to add the safety conversion kit to pre 1973 Single Action Revolvers. It’s not a manufacturing flaw, as these guns had traditional actions and should be carried with the hammer down on an empty chamber. This is the same safety rule that has been in place for SAA’s since 1873. BTW, as we all should know, COLT SAA’s are still made with the traditional action and should also only be carried with the hammer down on an empty chamber.

And to be even more fair only 3 of the remaining recalls including this one are from the last 20 years.
