The only reason the early guns where not at the “milspec” is more cosmetically, it is not any Mil/Civilian differences.
Kevin, Off topic but when is that Leupold being officially released? Thanks
Depends.
Greater than anticipated Government interest may delay the planned date.
Crap, wasn’t trying to start an anti KAC thread…
I was honestly curious about the difference in the 2 carriers. Sorry Kevin. Maybe I should have just kept it on the side so as not to provoke the haters.
The gun you buy today will in many cases be outdated compared to the gun we make tomorrow. We will always continue to improve every gun we make. That is how we try to maintain a compedative edge. For those that don’t get this you just don’t get KAC.
I’ve been to your place and drunk your booze, I get KAC!!
Boland was hiding the night I was there, though. I asked the nice lady at the reception desk where he was when the tour started, and she said she didn’t know. ![]()
I wish I had the funds to by more KAC products. owning 3 MK11 complete units…you just want more!!!
III and KAC,
Thank you!
The contract at that link is for 20 units, and was awarded for $74,281. That comes to $3714 a scope. If the retail is around $5,750 then I guess taxpayers caught a good break on the contract. It makes $5,750 seem even steeper though.
I looked thru one briefly, and thought it was a nice scope, but I didn’t see the awesomeness in it. If it were the only 1-8 that would be one thing, if it were the only FFP that would be one thing. Maybe I just didn’t want to love it so that I won’t make a really dumb decision…
I thought the dot was supposed to do something magical? It is a nice bright dot, but I thought it was linked to the zoom feature- or was that one of the other 1-8 scopes?
I think the new Taliban camo will be randomly oriented and sized Horus features so that you can’t tell what is the scope and what is fake.
Love see on side-by-side with the Z, Premier and S&B.
Hey, buy 20 of them at once and they might cut you a deal also. ![]()
m4carbine, no problem on this end, and at the end of the day its information exchange that helps.
I am glad to have been able to shed some light.
I’m going to follow III around the shop one day for a whole day until I get a cut carrier ![]()
Screw that, it’s called a dremel tool and some beers! Kidding, kidding, I do not advocate dremelling while non-sober.
Hate to burst the bubble but I just realized my Bushmaster 308 has the serrations shown on the bolt carrier. Not in the same manner but it is obviously there…
IIRC the BM ones are for a Forward Assist.
Truly awesome awesome gear. However, I have to look at the dollar amounts. For an SR25 EM at around $5000 and a Leupold 1-8 Short Dot for another 5000 or so. Add a few other accessories and magazines and we’re looking at $12,000 easily. I might just be a broke poor civilian, but that is a lot of dough for one setup.
I can probably get a SCAR Heavy for $3000 in a few months and a S&B Short Dot for $3000. Add some accessories, and I’m still about 4000-5000 better off. I can use that and buy tons of ammo or another 5.56 weapon system whether it be a Noveske M4 or Knights SR-15 system.
I guess for those who get $10,000 guns, money is never an object.
That argument presumes that the scar h is as good as the emc. I’d argue it’s not. You get what you pay for.
What do you mean? The serrations are near the gas key and at the bottom of the bolt. I do know what a FA serrations look like.
Well, let’s see a picture.
Forward assist serrations, I’d bet you know what they look like. They’re on just about every AR-15/M-16 BCG that I can think of, in .223/5.56 anyway.
He must have assumed that’s what you meant.
I can understand why people feel the way they do, but honestly, KAC’s going to keep innovating or they’re going to go out of business.
The market demands it to be successful.
I’d just look at what you’re buying and not even think of it in the context of “It’s the latest and greatest” but look at what it is, and if it fills your needs.
I work with computers for a living, and I can tell you… It’s a wasted pursuit to try to obtain the latest and greatest.
Yep the LMT beat it and the HK 417 for their Sniper/DM rifle contract
