Gotta love pikals.

Wow. Very nice.
Have my P’kal with me right now. Great knife. It has become my EDC cutting weapon. Don’t use it much for utility chores. I will say, I 'm glad I bought the trainer with it. It probably saved me from a couple of nasty cuts as I was getting used to the system. Now I find it easy and intuitive to deploy. It is a stabbing machine. Over hand or underhand, the stroke is basically the same. Plunge straight in and then use your muscles in the back and shoulders to drag it out, cutting a semi circle.
I have thought about getting a “Grab and stab” fixed blade from Saurez, but now i’ll look into that knife in the pic above.
Any other P’kal type knives out there I shouldn’t be living without?
I think I will get a trainer. Deploying is taking getting used to and has cut me 2X. Getting better with no further cuts though. I have a Ban Tang Gen4 Pikal coming too. It’s a fixed blade.
Just a note with the trainer, I recommend removing the wave on the trainer. It is easy or at least possible to do some serious damage with that thing when trainging force on force. A dog brother had some serious arterial bleeding when stabbed with it on his arm.
I have the spyderco w/ trainer and a Tom Halloran Pikal as well.
Great knives except the clip for the spyderco blows. Ended up buying three extra to have on hand as replacements from the factory.

A lot of care needs to be taken with any hard trainer when using it force on force. When using hard trainers, they should be used for practicing deployment ONLY (in which case the wave should be left there, since that literally is how it deploys). If you are going to be making much/any contact with a trainer, you should be using a nok (which you can safely put a bit of force into).
That’s said, the p’kal is pretty slick for what it is intended for.!!
