It’s a modernized Browning HP. If someone wants an all steel pistol from highly vetted design made for 9mm, could be a good choice:

It’s a good looking gun. I have the full sized pistol. Grip screws liked to come loose and the extractor broke. (known SA corner cut). But after fixing those issues, it’s a fun blaster. Nothing I’d carry, but a cool steel range pistol.
Myself, only interested in practical use guns that have CCW uses, etc. A range gun that sits in a safe is useless to me. Of course the legit HP’s were used as combat pistols for a long time.
With the problems with their extractors, I frankly don’t trust that they didn’t skimp on other critical internals.
Although I do like shooting the gun from time to time. The HP platform really makes you appreciate modern handgun ergos. It could be a carry gun, just not my first choice.
The wooden grip (as a side note) are cut to perfection and match up to the frame beautifully.
Looks better than the FM short hipower that skipped the slide scallops.
I’d there s legitimate fix for the Springfield Armory Extractor issues?
Extractors for that model or in general? I hadn’t heard anything on that.
When mine broke I googled it and found that it was fairly common. I got one from APEX tactical or whatever, but there’s also another manufacturer that a lot of guys use.. i can’t remember who though.
No way I was putting another bad SA extractor back in and waiting for that one to break too so I ate the cost and put a good one in.
Apex Tactical does a great job solving problems for manufacturers. Glad it’s as simple as turning to them.
Yep. Most guys I read about picked another source for their extractors, but APEX is here in AZ so I just ordered theirs.
