And unlike Chuck’s comment, I’m being serious. Are you telling me that you intend to use one holster for several totally different guns? The only Safariland holster that I know that will fit a 1911, Beretta and Glock would be the “Custom Fit” model, #560 series. Is that what you’re using? I sure hope you will say yes. That would make me feel a little better.
This is the what I’m envisioning:
Since you said you work in the “armor car” business, it sounds like your job depend on you carrying a gun that works everytime if needed, from a secure holster. If that gun ever falls out of the holster, even in a non emergency situation, like walking or climbing in and out of an armored truck, that would not be good. I hope you take care to select the proper holster to fit your sidearms.
It’s definitely going to go to Springfield, but I’m going to the range tomorrow to see if I can repeat the issue doing exactly what i did before. I can borrow a friends Glock, but it’s either that, new gun, or shop gun (which I posted my feelings about in a previous comment). And no, risking my ass to save a few hundred is not worth it. In all fairness, the internals looked like they hadn’t seen a drop of carbon cleaner since the gun was first manufactured, which I have since fixed
…That awkward moment when you have become the “that guy” you constantly refer to. Honestly man, at the risk of sounding like a newb, which as far as handguns go I apparently totally am, I have no idea what model, and google searches are giving me nil. I bought it at a gun show 3 years ago, and the guy said it was designed for the Beretta 92FS, but since they are so similar, it will work, then rattled off a bunch of compatible firearms as well, including Glock 22, and a number of Sig series. I now know this is b.s., and I no longer listen to most of these guys, but clearly I haven’t thought about what had been said in the beginning, just what I’ve been told after reading and posting on this forum. But I digress. The markings on the back say: 4340A37

Ya, any additional help you guys can offer, is definitely why I’m here
If a thorough cleaning and lubrication resolves the issue, a build up of crud could have been the problem. If you have a good range session and are confident there is no longer an issue, I am happy for you. Returning the pistol to Springfield Armory for inspection and repair should give you some peace of mind.
We give a lot of advice on this website concerning troubleshooting malfunctions and probable solutions for rifles, shotguns and pistols. For a hobbyist it is a big help. I do a bit of gunsmithing to my own 1911’s and manage to keep them running. If I had a 1911 that I was going to carry on duty, I would not do the work myself. I would send it to a highly respected gunsmith or the factory.
Please let us know how your range session goes and how many rounds you fire without malfunctions, etc.
If you are out in even a light rain with an exposed 1911, you need to detail strip the whole gun and clean it that day or you risk small parts and internals rusting up.
I wish I could say that so much. I’m stuck in black 511 tactical pants all day every day no matter what the weather, and have definitely rusted out a couple mags that were only half covered by the holders.
Anyway, I bought a new handgun yesterday, so I’m sending the 1911 in to Springfield as soon as I can. You said send the mags I use in too right? I’m going to try to take it out and shoot it after I move today. Hopefully it’ll shoot without any issues, but it’s going back regardless. It’d just make me feel better if nothing went wrong
