Springfield Custom Carry-first range trip

I’ve had this gun for a couple of months, but I just shot it today. I am reminded why I love the 1911, it’s been 6 months or more since I shot one.

Here she is:

I fed 'er some WWB, Federal Champ, TULA steel case and some Remington JHP. No malfunctions at all. Slide locked back on empty every time.

The mags I used were all 7 rounders. Wilson 47c, Checkmate G.I. spec, Colt hybrids and Springfields.

I fed all of the hollowpoints through the G.I. spec mags. They are my favorite 1911 mags so far.

A few targets with the different ammo. All of these were shot at 15 yards, standing, isosceles, thumbs forward grip. Not stellar groups, but acceptable to me, especially considering the minimal amount of effort I expelled producing these holes…

Great looking gun! Did you order it directly from the Custom Shop or find it at a local shop?

I ordered it from the custom shop. They quoted me 8-10 months, but I had it in 5. Nice gun so far.

Nice. I assume this was built from the ground up (not a production gun sent in for mods) since it has the Springfield Custom logo?

That’s a great looking SA 1911. What finish is that?

nice blaster

enjoy

Super nice! I have always liked the Custom Carry.

The Custom Carry (Model #PC9102) is basically the base gun for the Springfield Professional. It uses ALL of the same high quality parts (frame, slide, internals) as the Pro. The difference is that it does not have the ambi safety, magwell, frontstrap checkering, night sights or Black-T finish as well as the the Professional markings or the serial # prefix. You can have it built exactly the way you want it.

Plain 'ol parkerizing.

Sweet deal. Still a very functional finish, and I like how it looks too.

Sweet. I have a kimber 1911, but I’m seriously considering a Springfield when I come back

I took it out yesterday and put 220 rounds of hollowpoints through it. Not a hiccup. I was using WWB 230, Remington UMC 230 and a box of PDX-1 230.

All fed through Checkmate G.I. spec mags.

I’m gonna break it down and clean it after I hit 1K rounds and see how it looks on the inside.

I shot it in a USPSA match yesterday and had a malf at round #627. It was a feedway stoppage, indicative of a weak mag spring.

I’m not sure, but I kinda want to take sides with the magazine on this one since it’s a pretty fresh mag and it’s worked fine in three 1911s.

The gun has 759 rounds through it as of now and I’ll take it down and clean it when I pass 1K.

that is a nice simple 1911, love it.
