Currently looking for an AR15 and don’t quite have the money for one (Colt or BCM) that I like, so I’m considering getting a Springfield Armory Saint with the free float handguard. Anyone had any experience with this rifle and is it decent enough for the price? I’ll be getting the 9" 300BO exchange kit for my MCX and am looking for another rifle chambered in 5.56 so wanted a cheapish rifle. The other option would be to buy an MCX 9" pistol and switch uppers with my current MCX, but I’m reluctant to buy another Sig given the problems I’ve experienced with owning the MCX and P320.

And on that note. Your artificial “I don’t have enough money argument” isn’t valid. There is absolutely no reason you cannot wait to save the money for a Colt, BCM, etc… unless you have some type of early warning that civil war is coming and you absolutely need something now.

Sure, the Saint is probably “good enough”. But you stated in your post that it isn’t what you want. You can get a BCM upper and mate it to the lower of your choice and probably not spend much more than you would on the Saint. Take a look. You might be surprised.

Or get a BCM lower from Grant and upper directly from BCM.
The Colt is a pretty damn good deal since he’s saving up to be Jewish. But yes, the BCM lowers are also excellent.

Seriously? Looks like they run around $900 +/- so for less you could buy a Colt Trooper which already has a free-float handguard. All you’d need are BUIS.

I would agree with this.
Having recently been in the market for an economical, quality AR (bought Colt 6920 OEM2), I don’t understand how you think you can buy a railed Saint, but not a Colt or BCM. Especially if you do the mix and match upper/lower thing. Brownell’s Colt 6920 complete lower $235 shipped + any number of first rate uppers beats the crap out of a Saint.

I don’t think the Saint is bad and I know I’m in the minority here. Yea the 6920 is a better buy quality wise but not everyone wants a Carbine gasses, moe sl handguard, pinned FSB gun. You’d need the CCU to be comparable and they are what, $1200? The Saint with mlok is under $900 and it has good features and furniture and a BCM trigger most likely. Another 300 for a CCU is nothing though but I think it’d be cool to add a Saint just to piss people off.
There are many people boycotting springfield because ( forgive me if I butcher this ), springfield and rock river arms worked hand in hand with some anti gunners on an anti gun bill in Illinois that would exempt springfield and rra from some anti gun legislation that was being passed. Instead of fighting the legislation, rra and springfield screwed over the majority to protect themselves. This happened after Trump was elected as well.
If I butchered that, please feel free to correct me, however this is a huge reason I refuse to buy anything from them.
