I recently got gifted from my father a spikes carbine length AR serial number
RSR. I was with him when he bought it from spikes at a gun show about 5 years ago. My question is I started to do some mods and noticed it had a commercial buffer tube and semi auto bcg, I thought they were suppose to be mil-spec.

I don’t think your getting what I’m asking. Is it something spikes will fix? I thought they were suppose to be mil-spec.

your best bet would be to contact them directly. I bought one 2 years ago and it has a milspec buffer tube.

The lifetime warranty covers any manufacturing defects that may render the product unsafe, inoperable, out of spec, to include cosmetic defects from the factory. Cosmetic defects are only covered for the first 10 days from the original shipping date from Spike’s Tactical. It is your responsibility to thoroughly inspect your order from Spike’s Tactical and let us know immediately if there is an issue. Cosmetic issues occurring outside the 10-day window will be address on a case-by-case basis.
If it was made out of spec maybe they would cover it but if you purchased it with those options I don’t think there is much you can do.
Mil-spec seems to have different meanings from different companies. Best bet would be to contact them yourself and ask. With the current market of things, I would imagine your up shit creek with your request.
I’m not sure if I understand, you want Spikes to give you a mil-spec buffer tube and BCG on a gun that was a gift and is 5 years old. I would imagine they will tell you NOOOOOOOO. Its five years old how do they know that your father didn’t swap out both. Until 2005 all Ar’s came with semi-auto BCG even colt thats when the ATF approved Colt to use M16 bcg’s, took a while for the others to catch on.
When I received the AR it had 0 rds through it. He bought it stuck it in the safe and never shot it. As for the info on 2005 thats useful and makes sense. I’ve already replaced the bcg with a wmd nickle boron. The info on why the commercial tube is what I was after.
