Spider Infested LMT

I built this and haven’t showed it off on here yet. I have a set of Troy fixed sights that are temporary (not pictured)

16" LMT carbine upper (yeah I know it’s not a middy)
Spikes lower, LPK, NiB BCG, winter TG
ACE Hammer stock
Troy TRX Extreme rail/HG
Magpul MOE grip (the grip+) is under the Christmas tree. MS2 sling, Pmags
Some kind of flip down sights and an EO Tech in the near future.

What made you choose those parts and that setup?

At the time of ordering the upper, LMT was the only quality upper I was lucky enough to find available. At that time Spike’s didn’t have much proof as to what their upper’s specs were. I bought the lower from aim for cheap. I wanted to be one of the test mice for the NiB BCG bc the claims made on it sounded awesome. I liked the hammer for its strength and cheek wield. It’s light weight to boot. I wanted a free float HG so I picked Troy because its not a quad rail. It comes with extra sections you can add if needed but I haven’t figured out if I need them, so I like the option of keeping my options open. I also have a BCM gunfighter CH in it. I like it but my finger keeps hitting the sling mount on my ACE stock in the end plate area.

Nice build! How do you like that Ace hammer stock? I’ve been thinking about trying one but I haven’t found a rifle with one it to test the feel.

Thanks! I really like the hammer stock. It’s slightly bulky but very strong and sturdy. It’s also very comfortable to shoot with.

Wow that stock is expensive. Trying to think of anytime in the military I ever saw a plastic stock break even in combat. I’ve seen guys hit just about everything with the butt of their rifles. So I am wondering why you chose the Hammer stock especially at that price point? Well over $200 just for the stock alone.

I am not knocking it. If it work for you then great. I am just wanting to understand your thought process around that particular stock.

Any chance we can get better pics? That stock arouses my curiosity…maybe I’ll like it better if the pic is in focus.

My reasoning in buying that particular stock was that if I’m in a competition, class, or even hunting it’s able to withstand lots of abuse to the buffer tube area which can bend if a guy falls on his rifle. I think Ace’s marketing drew me in more than anything, where as I’m a sucker for anything overbuilt. After I handled one at knob creek that’s where I made my decision. The who package costs $250 which has its own buffer tube and end plate. So is you deduct that you’re actually at around some of magpul’s stock’s pricing.

Everyone that has handled my AR seems to love that stock. Check one out sometime and if you’re ever in the Cincinnati area get in touch with me if you’d ever like to look at it.

I hear ya on the overbuilt part! I’m in Columbus so I’ll get a hold of you when I’m in Cinci, would like to check it out.

Okay maybe we can setup a shoot and you can get the total expierence that way.

Ace IMO makes some pretty damn good stuff. Well, asides some of their stocks mounting clamps. Don’t know much about your stock what so ever though. Def going to look into it. As long as it fits a MilSpec buffer tube I’ll be a happy camper.

now its 40 below 0 and your creek is mounted to the stock …talk about deduction …still nice weapon !

I’m not sure what diameter the tube is. The tube comes with the stock, but I’ve also seen it with a m4 stock (not sure if milspec or not)
That would bother me more if I wanted to swap it out but since I don’t I could care less as far as my rifle goes. It’s stronger than probably everything on the market as far as I know.

The cheek piece is the only plastic part on it. You don’t have to work about sticking your toungue to it like in the Christmas story lol.

Why only “temporary” on the Troy fixed sights?

I plan on mounting an EO Tech later. I’m thinking the rear sight would be in the way.

Cool, was just wondering if it was because you didn’t like them. Do you plan to go with another buis? flip ups maybe?

I like them. They’re good for anyone wanting fixed sights. I’ll end up getting a set of flip up sights soon. I’m thinking about magpul eventhough they’re polymer. They seem very sturdy.
