Anyone have this? It says it reduces the LOP by another inch. I already have the IV-S stock but could use it a little shorter. Will I notice a big difference in the recoil? I took a one day defensive shotgun class from Tom Givens/Rangemaster last week and shot just under 200 rounds and had a bruise but nothing too crazy. Just worried this thinner pad may make taking a class not very enjoyable.
I bought one of these. It is a thin piece of hard nylon or polymer. It is fine for shooting with body armor on but does not absorb any recoil. I cut down the speedfeed IVs stock on my 870 to just behind the sling swivel hole and still have enough material remaining to receive the screws in order to install a limbsaver grind to fit pad. This will give you a 12.5" length of pull measured from the face of trigger to the rear of the recoil pad. This measurement is with a 1" thick recoil pad and a daniel defense sling loop plate which adds some distance between the receiver and the stock. This set up will solve your need for a shorter length of pull and still give you plenty of recoil absorption
Well that sucks. Thanks for the info. I guess I need to find someone that can cut it down for me then.
I use a SWAT plate on my duty gun where I unfortunately cannot cut and paste the stock (as much as I would like to!). It works just fine especially with body armor and using duty reduced recoil buckshot. I also use the Haught push-pull method to mitigate recoil and allow faster follow up shots.
However, for a shootin-all-day gun I can see where a real buttpad would be nice.
