Not much info on the web about Special ops tactical. I’m considering one of their 14.5 middy barrels. The profile looks interesting and is listed as “custom profile.” I like the nickle boron bbl extension also. Any first hand experience with these?

The profile doesn’t look horrible, but the name screams mall ninja and for the price they are asking I would just go with a barrel from AR performance. His barrels have similar features and will cost you less. For that price you might aswell get chf barrels from BCM or DD.
Looks very similar to BA’s Hanson profile.
Could be a good barrell, could be a bad barrel, I’ve never even heard of this company. I wouldn’t bet my 290 on it being good though, that’s for sure.
What makes it “special” and “ops” and “tactical”?

At that price go with a known maker. BCM, Daniel defense… If you want to save some coin go with Sionics. Best $185 I spent.
From everything that I’ve read about them, they are good to go. They use Ballistic Advantage for their barrels, so I wouldn’t have any reservations about their barrels. There are a few reviews around the net if you search.
FWIW I’ve got 4 BA barrels and they’re all good to go.
^^i agree. Im really liking everything i hear and read about BA, although, i would prefer a good old parked barrel extension over a nib or nitrided one.
OP: i went to BAs site and their hanson profile 14.5 with the 1" gasblock journal is $40 cheaper, minus the mall-ninjaness.
It is Special Ops…how can you go wrong…:jester:
I actually installed one of their rail systems on my friends rifle a couple months ago. Quality seemed nice. My friend also said their customer service was very good.
If that’s the case then I’d order it directly from Ballistic Advantage. It’d be $40 less for the same barrel and the OP would be dealing with a great company.
