For those that to carry or have carried a 1911 professionally. what is/was your typical load out. when carrying concealed and when carrying offensively?
I dabbled in carrying my 1911 while I worked through issues with my g19.
When carrying I had 8 in the mag and 1 in the chamber, safety on. extra mag in my front left pocket (never could get used to a mag pouch concealed). Also an extra mag in the center console of my car.
When gaming I ran 2 double mag pouches for a total of 5 mags on my person, 40 rounds was always more than enough.
That’s all gone to the wayside with the apparent proof of my g19. But that’s not the point of this thread.
Concealed-I carry a Wislon ETM in the gun, and then 2 8 Rd 47D mags in a carrier with another 47D in my back pocket. Might be overkill, but I’ve always done this.
Concealed carry:
(1) 8rd mag in the gun, plus (1) round in the chamber
(1) 8rd mag in a mag pouch on my belt
I gave one of my Milt Sparks mag carriers to my brother to use since I had 2 and only ever carried 1 mag.
My general rule is if the pistol I am carrying has a magazine capacity of ten rounds or less, I carry two spares. If the mags hold eleven or more, I carry just one.
On duty, I carry 3 Wilson ETM’s on the belt, 1 Wilson 8rder in the gun.
Plain clothes work, 2 mags on the belt, 1 in the gun.
Off-duty, 1 Wilson 10rder w/Surefire light in pouch on belt, 1 in gun. If travelling away from the home area, I try to stash another mag or 2 somewhere. Probably won’t need them, but rather have them then not…
8+1 in the gun, 4x10rd mags in my pocket.
I concur. Any single stack anything, 2 spare mags. I have carried a Sig 225 in the past with 2 spares. Very flat and concealable.
When I was carrying my Kimber Ultra Carry long ago I had 7+1 in the gun and two more 7 round mags in my front pocket.
I’ve carried a 1911 off duty in the past. I always carry at lease one extra mag with me. When I would carry a 1911 it would usually be 2 extra 8rnd mags.
One 8 round welded baseplate magazine loaded in the gun (the flush baseplate minimized the possbility slightly of any printing when carrying concealed), with 1 additional round chambered; two eight round magazines for reloads, with extended basepads to assist in achieving a secure reload.

uniformed - 1 8rd + 1 in chamber in gun
2 X 8rd spares in mag pouch on duty belt
ERT - 1 8rd + 1 in chamber in gun
3 X 8 rd spares in pouches
Concealed - 1 8rd + 1 in chamber in gun
1 X 8rd spare in mag pouch on belt
Conceal Carry:
1911 5inch with 8rd Wilson Combat 47D mag with one in the chamber Galco Combat master or Hillsman Kydex holster
2 additional 47D mags 9 o’clock position in a Galco leather double mag holder or 2 single kydex holders
Winchester Ranger Black Talon 230gr JHP +P ammo depending where I was going I would have 2 additional mags in the car.
Concealed - One or two mags in blackhawk kydex mag pouches (8 rd mags)
On duty - 4 mags in an AE nelson mag carrier
