I know many LMT SOPMOD buttstock owners have pondered, with much frustration, how to best attach a sling to this stock using some form of quick disconnect swivel… I think I finally found MY ANSWER to this quest! YMMV… ![]()
As many know, GG&G finally came out with a SOPMOD adapter for their quality “Sling Thing,” however I never thought that method of mounting ideal as it relied on a relatively thin section of polymer on the SOPMOD that was somewhat flexible (possible cracking under impact loads). So I kept looking and thinking…
Here is what I came up with…

This method utilizes the existing mount point…

All I did, besides buying the two Uncle Mike’s swivel kits shown, was add a stainless steel nylon locknut and black Sharpie both nut and two washers. Adjusted right, it swivels with zero play and zero noise (unlike some push button swivels out there…).

Kit #1001-2 comes with two 1" swivels. Compare the heavy-duty ones and get a pair of those as well.

I really like this setup! The SOPMOD is on my Sabre SPR, so I wanted a quick way to remove the sling when not needed… I got both UM kits at Trading Post Supply… I hope this helps others in the same quandary…
