Sooper barrels

Just wondering if I’m missing out on some good barrels. I know the gold standards for “great barrel”- CMMG, Noveske, BCM, White Oak, etc… but what about the those “best kept secret” little guys out there producing amazing barrels that nobody knows about?

I’m looking to put together my most dead-nuts-on (and most expensive) pink-mister build to date, and figure now’s the time to learn of that fantastic-yet-yet-unknown custom barrel guy that’s waiting for a little publicity to send him rocketing into the ranks of the perpetually “out of stock!” manufacturers.

Chime in with your secrets, por favor.

CMMG?

Well my intent isn’t to argue over which of the listed manufacturers are truly “great” barrels makers, but CMMG makes a perfectly decent barrel. It’s no Noveske, but I’m aware of nothing else that is- that’s why I’m posting.

What king of barrel are you looking for?
What will it be used for?
Desired length of barrel? Of gas system?
4150/Chrome Lined or Stainless?

You beat me to it!

It’s a Sooper barrel? Maybe he meant “Pooper” barrel?

Primary use will be for inducing bouts of envy from collegues
18", mid-length gas, medium-ish profile, .5/28, preferably with FSB option.
CL 4150, but I’m not a biggot

Most accurate CL barrels I have seen to date are the Noveske N4’s.

Everybody’s gettin noveskes. I’m waaay too cool to do what everybody else is doing. I’ll probably get their 18" SPR SS… Still waiting to hear back on lead time. I was looking at the white oak SPR, for about half the do’h, but they’re 8 weeks out. Noveske’s probably 10.

I just picked up a White oak barrel from Rainer arms awhile back, 16" midlength, and govt. style profile under the handguards but a lil fatter than .625" though. looks nice havent shot it yet.

You need not look any further than…

I have one of his 18" barrels on my MK12 clone. You can literally put rounds through the same hole at 100m with the right ammo.

All the other manufacturers mentioned may make good products but “Grinch” makes no nonsense second to none gear.

He knows his guns from both sides of the house, as a SOF operator and as a technition. He takes the time to get inside all the weapons he produces and truly “customizes” the weapons PERFORMANCE.

In a nut-shell he DELIVERS.

I am intrigued… thank you, I shall infestigate.

I am curious about the absence of any discussion for the match barrels by say, JP Rifle? I also see Brownells sells a few match grades with integrated brakes.

Have these evern been compared anywhere on a range to the Noveske?

Match barrels tend to have .223 chambers. Fine if all you are shooting is .223 varmint ammo. No joy for serious use.

Think there might be a reason for that?

I hear they’re THE barrel to beat. Like I say- as soon as those MFrs call me back, I’ll probably be placing an order. I do want to check out this Centurion Arms SPR, though- anybody else have anything on 'em? They run about the same price as the noveske SPR, so they must have a high regard for themselves.

The barrel package is just a little more and it comes with the gas block and bolt. I think I am going to stick with noveske for my build.

The barrel group also comes with a gas tube. I think they also advertise that the matched bolt is MP tested, but I’m not positive about that one.

I went ahead and ordered the noveske today. i feel like a sellout.

Just shut up and drink the Kool-Aid.:smiley:
