The Devil is in the details…

I’m comparing which method / looks, works better

I’m comparing the size difference between a 3.5-10 x 40 and 5.5-22 x 56

Ok well it pretty cool at this point, but those who know me, know I like to airbrush WWII nose art and zombies so in keeping with what I do, here’s how I proceed next…
Disclaimer / Note / Remember… This is my scope and I’m an artiest which is to say I’m a little off, Hahhaa… I’m well aware that most of you will HATE what I’m doing next… Please leave now… Leave now while your ahead…
After reviewing tons of different options that I can do (see examples below)

.
I decided to do a mockup I came up with this… Yes that’s a Dominatrix mounting the long range shooting club logo that I belong too…… I know!, I know… I need to seek help…

But after thinking about it, I decided I’m going with a naked pin-up on a can of “WHOOP ASS”……
I mean really… What other option do I have…

Is it too much??

P.S.
Actually, I’m going to be trying out a few different outfits on her… You know… All white nylon, all read nylon, cowgirl, school girl, army girl, naughty nurse, etc, etc… Once I find just the right look, I’ll finish it up and seal it…
Thanks for your time team… Have a great one everybody…
Link…
Im amazed at the amount of time you have taken to do your gun paint. It looks really good.
I don’t have the patience for that kind of detail. I carry about 6 cans of spray paint in the back of my unit. If time allows I will quickly spray a terrain based pattern on the spot, let it sit a few minutes and off I go…
Anyway very nice gun and paint job.

This might be a “dumb” question but how did you do the scope cap covers, without losing the #'s?
Hey thanks Sir…
Well I didn’t spend all of my time on the rifle, I did manage to pump these out too…

Yeah, I like to airbrush its fun for me, the detailing is a pain the Azz but in the long run I’m pretty happy with the end results… You sound like you actually have a truer camo than me in the real world thou…
Nothing dumb about that question Sir…
As for how… Well it’s a trade secret… Hahaha…
No actually it wasn’t hard just time consuming, very, very time consuming… Since I have multiple layers of colors going on I simply taped over everything after the prep, untapped it before the final color. That way the pervious layers of paint wont fill the lines… Then I used a white paint stick… I’ve been airbrushing for a little while now and have picked up a few tricks along the way…
Very nice paint job Linkpimp, as usual.![]()
Simply amazing! How DO you manage to keep the numbers on the dials. Fill and wipe?
i think you did a stellar job indeed, im very impressed!!!![]()
maybe you’ve said before- what kind of paint do you use, and how does it hold up?
Thank you Sir… I’m glad you like it… ![]()
Hahahaa Hey thanks big guy… Yeah the paint stick is pretty cool… after everything is painted then (yes) you fill and wipe, and wipe and wipe some more, then fill again and wipe some more… Basically repeating the process for several hours at time, cursing and swearing the whole time… Hahahaa good times ![]()
WOW… Hey thanks. Really thanks a lot for the kind words…
I use DuraCoat on the firearms and regular airbrush paint on the rest… I think it holds up great… I still have tons of stuff that I painted up years ago with it and it last and still looks good IMO…
The secret to getting the most out of DuraCoat is curing time and seal… no one wants to wait the 3 weeks for it cure and hardly anyone seals it?
no… nobody waits for cure. thats why most guys prefer krylon… 24 hours is generally enough for even heavy coats, 15 minutes for light coats.
if you’ve used rustoleum, how does it compare to duracoat for durability?
IMO,
DuraCoat holds up for years under normal wear and tear and (cleaning) lets not forget about our solvents that we use on our firearms…
Rustoleum last what (a few weeks at best) if you don’t seal it and if you do, then you might get what a year out of it?? I’m sorry I really don’t know…
To me, if I’m going to go to the trouble of painting a firearm, I’m going to use firearm paint. But in order to use duracoat, you need to know how to airbrush and you need the equipment too… spray paint is great because anyone can do it for the cost the can alone…
Sorry I’m rambling…
Durability = Durcoat hands down
Simplicity, cheep, quick = spray paint (Not that there’s anything wrong with it)…
