Perhaps a hint is his location in Everett Wa.
One could construe a fool – or a shill…
There’s nothing that boils my ass more than someone defending OLY ARMS! ![]()
The problem is that a lot of administrators who make the buyiong decision don’t know one gun from another and think all ARs are the same.
Much to most of LE buying is based on price, delivery, and marketing, with little to no contemplation of performance and value. Meaningful evaluation and analysis of product before or after the acquisition is rare as well. Wailing and gnashing of teeth is epidemic.
I once fired a clip through an Olympic at the range without any issues.
They’re good to go!

I personally think Oly is great if all you want is something to pop at tin cans with or maybe a varmint or two, but I do belive they are missing quite a few “features” (mandatory workmanship like staking, ect.) that makes them a no-go in most people’s book after doing the research.
But did it have a green infrared? ![]()
The not staking this and that stuff is all correctable. It’s the pin holes in the wrong places, out of spec chambers, bolt catches that catch the carrier not the bolt, etc. that make them unacceptable.
Oly used to remake fugged up lowers for customers… I’m talking spec issues that were SO bad they had to remake the lower, it was so bad. Allowing this kind of crap to even make it into customer hands proves they’re an incompetant bunch of imbeciles.
When it comes to complete rifles I must agree that Olympics are less than perfect, but I must also say that when they actually produce a good barrel they produce a very, very, good barrel!
Personally I couldn’t care less if some guy off the street buys a crappy AR that has the potential to, or does fail frequently. If I was allowed to keep my own AR and protect myself, once again I wouldn’t give it a second thought, but I am not.
But when my LEO agency is buying shoddy guns to protect me (WHO HAS BEEN DISARMED THROUGH LAWS), I am furious  . Since I am not allowed to protect myself from a crazed gunman on campus, I expect the police to be doing what I am not allowed to do. Buying inferior equipment is horrible for LEOs, especially for LEOs who are protecting unarmed sheep such as myself in a high risk environment such as a college campus.
Dont be a sheep.
All dept’s are funded by tax monies at whatever amount your elected officials find sufficient, also depending on weather the local officers have pissed off any of the board members by ticketing their wives for DUI or popping junior for dealing meth. Then there are oversight boards that pick apart every purchase of equipment made. Many depts allow their Officers to purchase their own AR’s at Officer expense. Some also require their Officers to purchase their own squad cars and receive gas money only if they drive over a certain amount of miles. All on the average of $30,000 a year. All Officers if given the budget would purchase the best possible equipment available because their lives may depend on it every shift, not just on the off chance of a active school shooting. If you want to change the way things are going change your major to Political Science.
They have Depts. that actual make officers purchase their own vehicle for the job!?! If using their own car they are then not paid mileage for ever mile they drive on the job? I can see some Depts making you purchase certain gear if they think its extra. I certainly don’t agree with having to purchase any basic equipment with out being fully reimbursed. But I have never seen or heard of police using there personal vehicles as the official standard patrol vehiciles being reimbursed per mile or not? If this is happening even in small towns thats inexcusable! Who knows of such Depts that have their officers driving their family minivans on patrol? Names of the city town dept? That certainly wouldn’t have me voting for the current city council in the next election that’s for sure. I guess I’m just really out of the current loop but I have trouble believing there are regular patrol officers out there that are forced to drive their family vehicles for everyday regular patrol, let alone not being reimbursed for it. It’s just hard to swallow, can anyone name some? If this is happening it’s despicable and any tax payer / citizen that allows this let alone the city council or sheriff that won’t fix the budget for it, well, lets just say I have a special place for them! Why would someone be willing to work for such a city as a officer? Can you imagine what kind of care you would get if injured? I can’t see many taking a job like that.

There are several agencies in Missouri that require a Officer to purchase their own squad cars, I’m not talking about mini vans but Police Package Crown Vic’s, these departments tend to have a high turn over rate so Officers that are quitting tend to sell them to new Officers comming on. Yes there are people that want to be Officers that bad, they’ll take a crappy job to get sent through the academy then after they establish themselves they move to the larger better paying cities. This is also why alot of depts allow some leniency in Officer carry. Buying a weapon for every cop costs alot of money so many agencies are allowing them to carry what they want as long as it meets certain criteria such as a known quality manufacturer in a calliber of 9mm , 40, 45,10mm. Also places like Little Rock Arkansas start their officers out at about $12 a hour, this is for working in a gang infested dangerous area. There are also agencies that issue “GASP” Mini 14’s as patrol rifles, My step brother is issued one of these pieces of crap. Basicly your safety comes second to budgetary concearns.
I must admit I was hoping you were exaggerating to get a point across. It saddens and angers me that this is going on, but I guess if there are those willing to accept the jobs little will change. Not that I blame the officers, you have to do what you have to do. I guess if it was the only way to get through the academy then I could see it. It just seems so ridiculous I wished it was BS. Thank you for providing the extra info. That is a truly sad state of affairs.

Clip huh… Good to go…Well I guess that depends on where you are going. Personally speaking I go no where that I would be happy with an Olympic
I don’t know if you are aware but in MO aprox 90% of the counties the deputies sheriff are making somewhere around 15000$ a year and quite a few are less
He was making a funny.
Yeah I have heard that. The 30,000 is a national average. Some areas down in Texas are even less. Last I heard New Orleans was paying less than 20,000 a year also.
