Some pics of CMT and Colt LPK pieces

I bought a CMT LPK not too long ago for my in progress build. I thought I was pretty safe going with CMT, but I think CMTs QC may be slipping. Now, I’m seriously thinking of going with an all Colt LPK or LMT LPK for my next lower. I also bought a Colt hammer spring as the CMT hammer spring just didn’t look too good.

Do LMT small parts look as good as Colt parts?

Wow!!! That is some cr@ppy CMT parts there…

Rmpl

+1,000 on that! I’d sent that S$^T back to wherever I got it from.

That sucks.

Are you sure thsoe are CMT parts or did someone tell you they were?

That CMT hammer spring has already been installed. They do not come from the factory having taken a set.

I have a bunch of receiver end plates that have the same defect as in the pictures above. Colt LPK are definitely better.

Some hammer springs already have that bend in them.

That disconnecter is complete shit. I’ve seen better stuff out of 1980s Olympics.

Some next step of logic noob questions…

What are the odds of getting an LPK like this from CMT? 1/10,000? From LMT? 1/1,000,000?

How would that equation change if you buy a complete lower from Stag or LMT, if at all? Would Stag (or anyone else using CMT) actually build with that, or would it get rejected?

Some CMT parts I’ve gotten are identical to Colt parts even under magnification, but other parts are not similar at all.

Edited to add - carbinero, the disconnectors from virtually every non-Colt parts kit I’ve gotten look like that. They all appear to have the same tool marks, too, so they’re coming from one place. (The one that came in my factory LMT lower did NOT look like that)

Not that my parts looked anywhere that bad, but I recently bought a CMT LPK and the trigger pull was hard and gritty as hell. Worst pull I’ve ever felt actually. I swapped the hammer and trigger out with CMMG parts and they are perfect.

I for one am done with CMT products.

yuck … I was planning on a CMT LPK till I ran into the deal at LCW

Those parts are nasty

I have went through about 20 CMT LPK’s this month and all of the parts have been fine. I just went through the half a dozen Stag disco’s I have and none look like that.

Maybe someone was shuckin & jivin him, telling him they were CMT ?

I always read they were Good To GO

Mine came in Stag packaging - in fact, IIRC, I ordered directly from them. I also just remembered (and checked), the disconnector I got in my Bravo Co. LPK looks like the Colt/LMT’s (not really surprising).

how about sabre defense lpks ? are they good ?

Hey! The 1980s was a good decade for the Olympics. 1984 was Los Angeles wasn’t it? They carried the torch through my hometown and I watched!

Well, I ordered a CMT LPK from a vendor that has a good reputation. The LPK came in a bag, which had a white sticker that read STAG ARMS Lower Receiver Parts Kit, which was followed with a lengthy warning about making sure the rifle is empty and unloaded. It also strongly recommended assembly by a certified gunsmith only.

Where can one get a good deal on Colt or LMT LPKs?

I’m going to go ahead and use the rest of the components in the CMT LPK, but will substitute the disco and hammer spring. The rest should be okay, right? Nothing else looks crappy.

Seems pretty shady. I just got a CMT LPK in a Stag Arms bag from G&R. My parts were perfect. I am .mil user and I have seen plenty of USGI parts. I would send these back and tell them what the problem is. I would also link this thread to your email.

Stag LPK’s come with the info printed directly to the bag and do not have a sticker.
