OK, finally convinced the wife to give the AR a try (she’s an AK gal from way back).
Going with a ASA side-charging upper (her choice - she hates the charging handle configuration of a standard AR upper)
She likes the MOE handguards for feel and lightweight
Wants to get a Daniel Defense 14.5" pencil barrel with some sort of flash hider/comp (open to suggestions here - really like the Addax Phalanx, the YHM 28-5C2)
So, here are the questions:
What sort of gas block should we get? I realize it needs to be a .625", but we’d like one with a railed top for eventual BUIS - the YHM one looks nice.
For a BUIS - we’d have to get Gas Block height BUIS, right? Which precludes the Magpul MBUS - so, what lightweight budget BUIS would you recommend for the front that is the right height?
When installing the MOE handguards, I assume we will need a Delta Ring Assembly?
For the front part of the MOE handguards, what do we need to get? I think it is called a handguard cap - I assume it needs to be .625" for the barrel profile - and I assume that it will be sized on the inside properly for the MOE handguards to snap into it?
