Thursday evening, while my wife was doing some orientation time with us at EMS, my two labs who are like our kids, somehow escaped from the pen mysteriously. The female was under the porch when the wife got home. Drake, the male, has never left her side, and does not roam. He was nowhwere to be found. We looked all night calling for him. My partner and I went out in the medic unit looking for him. No sign anywhere of him. this is a small town where I live in, and no one has seen him. I found strange boot tracks in the yard, and still no Drake. My wife has been cryin non stop since this happenned thursday night. He was a very gentle friendly dog. I figure some body stole him, or something got him. It crushes me, cause he had a great temperment, and was a HOSS. He was 11 months old, and 85 lbs, and was a great guard dog. Gentle as a lamb with kids too. It sucks to lose a good dog. We have put a reward out for him, but I doubt it will get anybody to do the right thing. He was my wife’s baby. He will be missed. Maybe someone will bring him back, as I have advertise a reward for him.
I can’t imagine why anyone would steal a mans dog given that it is a killing offense for many people.

Doesn’t sound like it… I know the temperament of your buddy to a tee. I have a 110lb black Lab myself. Although intimidating looking, he’ll open the door for a intruder and show them around. LOL.

I had a similar experience about fifteen years ago when my coon hound disappeared. The worst part of it was not knowing what became of her. And I still don’t.

As a dog owner/lover for many years I know what you’re going through and my condolences to you and your wife.
I went on vacation a few years back and left my Border Collie with a neighbor who lost her the very next day. I was gone for 7 days and didn’t know that she was missing. She was missing for about 10 days. The reason I say this is to make a point. Do NOT give up in your search. If I lost my dog in a huge metro and still found her then you should be able to find your dog in small town America. Print and post fliers everywhere with a good color picture and reward info. Call ALL of the local vets and humane societies. Call your local LEO’s and send them a flier. Sounds stupid but they are the eyes and ears of the streets and that is exactly how my dog was found. A police officer found her tied to a bus stop pole and brought her to an emergency animal clinic while I was on the phone talking to the vet! He walked in with my dog right after I had given the vet a description. So don’t give up hope. Prayers do get answered!
When you do get your dog back have them chipped.

Oh man I am so sorry for you. I would lose my mind if some one took Jake from me. In my book, dog stealing ranks right up there with animal abuser, child molesters / killer, and liberals.
I know how you feel about your dog man, and some people never learn/underrstand the bond between a man and his dog.
Hope he shows up. Also, was he fixed? I mean, if not, well they do roam if a female is in season.

I couldnt imagine something happening to my black lab.
I saw on the news this morning that alot of dogs have been getting stolen lately in Ga, Call the cops if the footprints are still there, hell call em anyway.
I’m sorry to hear of your lost dog, unfortunately this is not an unusual incident! When I lived near Philadelphia a few yew years ago, they were having problems with the scumbags that train fighting dogs, seams they were stealing pets, to use as a “live target” for their dogs training, because most housepets won’t fight back and injure their “investment”! I sincerely hope this is not the case, but dogfighting is huge in Georgia!
The wife called me earlier this morning, and gave me the good news.He is back!!! The wife had a fit over some puppies in the paper yesterday, and we wound up buying another lab puppy. Then he came home this morning, all beat up and bruised up, and limping, but otherwise ok. Thanks for your support, all is well, our child is back!!!
