Soft case suggestions

I need to get a soft case for my AR. Prefer something that will hold mags etc. Thanks for the suggestions.

I’ve got a 36" two rifle case by Voodoo Tactical, definatly worth every penny and then some. Three pouches, some molle attachment points, internal pockets, detachable backpack straps as well as a shoulder strap and handles. They have them in 36", 42", and 46" lengths.

Best price I’ve seen is at Sportsman’s guide where I got mine, think the price has gone up a bit since then though.

Don’t think you’ll find a better bag for the price.

Knowing Sportsman’s Guide, it is likely made in China.

I got a second from Midway a few weeks ago, they were on sale for nearly half price, $39 I belive. I was impressed when I received it, you may want to look into them.

I’m in the market for one too, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money on one. (I’m talkin less than $30 here)

They gave me a UTG (yes the airsoft company) soft case with my AR, and it is actually well made. The canvas is pretty heavy duty and not that thin plasticy stuff, the zipper is heavy duty, and hold 5 mags on the outside. Not sure how the foam with hold up long term, but no problems yet.

I’ll throw a 2nd for that sale Midwayusa case.
They may look cheap but they are made very nice and sturdy.
Main difference between those and the way more expensive voodootactical
model is the voodoo has inner straps to hold your rifle more secure.

If you have a nice or expensive scope I would suggest going with a hard case.
Most can be found at sporting goods stores.

Good Luck and hope you find the right case for you.
Cheers,

For a general purpose rifle bag that will hold 4 magazines in pouches plus other gear like a small chest rig, I like the Eagle very much. The linked product is slightly different than mine, and better IMHO other than the fact that mine is blue. The newer version has no weapon tie-downs in the rifle compartment and moves the magazine pouches from the rifle compartment to the outer compartment.

I’m able to put a 16" BCM gun in the inner pouch and an 11.5" Colt 6933 in the outer pouch.

I have a Condor 36" case that I got from Cheaper Than Dirt (yeah, I know) when I got my first AR. It’s like the VooDoo case mentioned above, but insteaad of backpack straps, it has a single shoulder strap and multiple attachment points. It has the 3 MOLLE pouches that can be handy, and the outer comparment will handle various items from a handgun, to accessories, to a breakdown .22. The Main compartment of the Condor has tirangular padded pockets on each end, and two fixed velcro-type straps. The secondary compartmenthas an unpadded calmshell cover, and two padded square pockets with velcro-type vertical closures.

I also have a Maxpedition Sliver II case. This case is about 38" long, and has a sleeve that you can extend out of the main compartment if you want to carry a longer gun. I can carry a complete AR in the main compaortment, and a second AR in the outer padded compartment of I break that gun down to upper and lower halves. The main compartment has triangular padded pockets on each end to hold conatin the rifle, but has no tie down straps. I haven’t noticed this to be an issue. The secondary compartment is a padded clamshell cover, with a full-length pocket that has a strap and bucket, and padded triangle pockets on each end. It is a more expensive case, but I find it’s versatility to be worth the price. No outside mag pockets or MOLLE webbing makes the Maxpedition case a little more discete than some others. But anyone who knows muchof anything sill probably peg it as a gun case.

The padding on both is decent and beyond adequate. The padding on the Maxpedition case is thicker and feels to be firmer.

Back of Maxpedition (yes, the VFG setup was a joke):

For $45 case, the Condor continues to serve me well. The Sliver II ran me $80.

I’ve looked a lot at the Castle Rock takedown case, and I should have gotten one when their price was under $100. But I think I can make a similar case someday if/when I have time:

And I really like the LRue covert case: http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=314 I think I read taht Tactical Tailor makes the case for LaRue. TT does not offer that case on their website. They have other cases that start just under $100 IIRC. TT stuff is built really well. from what i’ve seen.

I’m cheap, I picked up a Blackhawk at a range/shop for $25 or so and it’s worked just fine.

I like this one. Want to see if I can find some reviews on it.

I haven’t purchased in a while but Acecase.com all american made cases. The ones I own are still going strong.

Another vote for the Eagle discreet cases. Have several, they are excellent.

The TTs are also GTG, as are a few others.

Try searching, there are several threads with posts on soft cases, many with picture comparisons.

The Midway case I received also has the inner tie down straps. I was impressed.

i’ll second the UTG case. nice padding, lots of mag pockets, plus it was cheap…

I like that 40in Midway case.

If it costs more than 40 bucks, it is not worth it for a bag that I use only for taking the rifle to and from the range. Find a nice 35 dollar assault rifle case.

I was looking at this case as well. Looks awesome, but a $140 for a bag is hard to justify.

I know, I know, the GF got a Gucci purse for X-Mas and all she carries around in it is her iPod, wallet and make up. So this does make sence, but sheesh, just hard to spend that $ on a bag for a rifle.

My thoughts exactly brother.
