I was working in my shop today and I got the bright idea to install a BCM Hammer Forged 16" LW barrel onto a Colt SOCOM. I also installed a 13" Geissele MK3 rail on it.

Gotta admit, pretty cool. :smiley:

Thanks. How I looked at is if Colt (Diemaco) made a middy, it would have a Hammer Forged barrel (so that is why I used the BCM).

The gun in the pic is available and if folks are interested, we can make more.

I’m liking the way your going on that, might be time to pick up a new 6920 and get a build going. Or as AC highlighted - is this something you’re planning on?

Good job Grant. I think this will fill a lot of “wants” from the previous thread. Now time will tell if those folks who truly want a middy will (excuse the expression) pony up.

Went the same way with my 6920… Installed a Daniel Defense 14.5 mid-length with their LPGB, pinned a Surefire SF3P for a soon to be approved SOCOM 556 RC and covered the works with a Noveske NSR 13.5 keymod rail… Light, fast and smooth shooting.

I am not getting it…why a Colt lower vs BCM? I’ve been buying BCM lowers last couple of builds. Is the Colt superior on the lower?

This. Lots of BCM and DD offerings.

BCM would be the first to admit that it is flattering to be mentioned in the same sentence as Colt.

Colt holds the TDP and is considered the “standard.” We also are not talking just about a Colt lower. You get everything Colt (less barrel).

OK. I’m tracking now. I thought it was just a BCM upper stuck on a Colt lower and couldn’t see the point. Now recognize it as “best of both worlds” with the BCM hammer forged barrel on the Colt. Really like the concept Grant. Nice work. Hope you post when you start offering these.
