I am sorry the Iranian people will rise up give the proper assistance.
if the USA caves on this project now then the USA will in 10 to 20 years kiss a city good bye to an Iranian nuke. If the junta is left in power vengeance on the people of Iran and then on Israel and the USA will follow.
The biggest problem is listening to any of the media’s military/foreign relations “experts” who have been consistently and incorrectly overestimating Iranian capabilities. It is a mistake that those experts are determined to keep making over and over even well after they’ve been proven wrong.
Example. Oh Iran shut down the Strait… ok how? Well they have hidden missiles… no they don’t or they’d have used them already and if they do the won’t last 1 launch before we take them out too. Well they have mine layers… nope we took those out too. Well what about their speedboats and uh er drones?? yeah the drones, what about them… The speedboats have all been sunk leaving the coastal ports and the drones are almost all getting shot down in Iranian airspace before they can even near their targets. Well ok uh, it’s about INSURANCE! uh yeah the shipping companies can’t get insurance… except they can and Lloyds, et al. have all signaled they are still covering war time risk the pilots and crews are just refusing to transit due to sympathies or irrational fears of toothless Iranian/Media statements that they are unable to follow through with. But the Iranians are demanding transit fees… and how are they going to collect them? and why would the US allow any fees to be paid in violation of sanctions? But it’s being paid in Yuan! or Crypo, yeah that’s it Crypto!… and what are they going to do with this unusable currency that no one will accept from them? Well the Chinese and Russians are resupplying the regime, they’re about to be able to strike back again!… Sure sure, except Israel bombed the Caspian ports which we have under continual surveillance, we have the Arabian/Omani Gulf ports blockaded, Turkmenistan isn’t allowing any transit through and the Afghan/Paki borders are closed. But but but, TRUMP!!… yep that’s all you got.

Secondly if Trump ends the war after telling the people of Iran to take to the streets and then he stops now. I don’t have words for just how wrong that would be.

What else needs to be done?

Sounds like Phil approved of bush I encouraging Iraqis to rebel and then letting them get slaughtered.

:The strongest signal of U.S. support for a popular rebellion came toward the end of the air war, when President Bush declared on February 15; “[T]here’s another way for the bloodshed to stop, and that is for the Iraqi military and the Iraqi people to take matters into their own hands to force Saddam Hussein, the dictator, to step aside.”[92] This remark was heard by Iraqis on the Voice of America.[93]”
Good Lord… you are pulling up events from 1991 spoken by someone who has not been President since 1993, about a completely different country (Iraq).
Maybe you can work in a quote from Chester A. Arthur next?
If you do want to dredge up the past, maybe offer an opinion on how the situation is pertinent to the current discussion?
During the cease fire the IRGC is starting to come apart at the seams. Different factions meeting in the streets. The hard core is calling those going to Pakistan traitors and people are screaming for the right to become martyrs for Allah
The War Powers act might lose in SCOTUS, but until it does it will remain a hurdle to POTUS acting unilaterally beyond the allotted window.
Mind you I am all for finishing the job here, but the population of the nation at large is not. That is just the reality of the situation whether we like it or not.
Frankly I am kind of irritated we have been pussy footing around. We 1000% should have used the 31st MEU to invade Kharg Island and either planned to keep it forever, or completely shit wrecked it and everyone on it.
So what?
The regime is not going to fall from an air campaign. We’re not putting troops into Iran in a capacity large enough to affect regime change, and neither is Israel. The Iranian people don’t have the capacity to do it, nor the willingness it seems.
End result the regime survives and rightly claims victory because survival and retaining power = victory for them since they don’t care about Iranian people.

Interesting that there is no possible chance that trump inciting Iranians to rebel and not supporting the rebellion could have the same outcome that bush inciting Iraqis to rebel and not supporting the rebellion had.
So what has changed over the years that a different outcome is guaranteed?
Certainly nothing is guaranteed. On the other hand, failure of the Iraqis to overthrow Sadaam does not necessarily mean that Iranians might not pull it off.
Historical precedent means something - right up until it doesn’t.
Why do you think poorly armed Iranian civilians would fare better against government forces than poorly armed Iraqi civilians?
Might depend on whether the military forces turn on the regime as well. For example, suppose a military member were to abandon his post guarding an arsenal?
A single soldier gets caught alone and his throat cut - an AK is captured.
But I am not saying you are wrong about how it could end up. You may very well be right. But the 1991 situation does not automatically apply to 2026.
This is such a thing as Chaos theory - change one or two variables and the effect cascades onto a new path.
Why would the Iranian military suddenly assist the peons they have been oppressing?
do not mistake IRGC and the military of Iran. IRGC are wack jobs, military everyone gets drafted into
Wait, what? Congress has the constitutional authority to declare war. POTUS is CIC but it doesn’t say anything about committing forces.

There have been multiple ships hit including in the last two or three days IIRC.

So Trump used up the last drop of his political capital on a war for Israel, nothing changes in the region on a long term scale since Iran remains under the control of roughly the same group of people, Republicans lose control of the legislature in November and Trump gets impeached in 2027.
Totally worth it! Right?
I’m unsure how the Iranian people are meant to rebel with out small arms?
To my knowledge we are only dropping bombs, not crates of AKs. Until then the idea of an uprising is a far off fantasy.

POTUS: “From day one, the objectives have been clear: obliterate Iran’s missiles and production, annihilate its navy, sever its support for terrorist proxies, and ensure it never acquires a nuclear weapon.”
I don’t recall a project of supplying the Iranian people and factions within whatever they consider ‘proper assistance’ to rise up. They can take advantage of what the US has done, or not. The American people learned a 20-year $2 trillion dollar hard lesson in Afghanistan. You can pay, train and arm people, but you can’t force them to fight for their freedom.

Because POTUS was never in charge. Netanyahu was. He clearly said that this war is over when the IDF says it is, not when POTUS says it is.
This was always America following Israeli orders.
