Some information suggests we tried to establish what basically was a mini “Desert One”, where we air-landed assets on C-130’s (two of which later got stuck and had to be destroyed….almost a dejavu) and proceeded from there to rescue the WSO. I’ve seen it speculated that the Little Bird left behind and also destroyed would have been riding out on one of those C-130’s. The Little Bird doesn’t have the range to fly out of country and to my knowledge no mid-air refueling capability, so it was staying behind since it’s ride out was stuck. Now who were these uber-troops that went up to the guy’s position? Some say DEVGRU (ST-6), some say CAG (Delta). Whoever it was did an outstanding fvcking job!

Regarding the cease fire, in terms of violation I think Iran was slow to get everyone on the same page. But for the last 24 hours all incoming to israel is from Hezbollah.
I hope this is a Trump head fake, because if this is the end of the war then in 10 to 15 years the next go might just involve nukes. Secondly if Trump ends the war after telling the people of Iran to take to the streets and then he stops now. I don’t have words for just how wrong that would be.

The whole reason this war exists is the “Greater Israel” concept. Until that is achieved Israel will demand we continue to pour blood and gold into the sand. We have already been told by Netanyahu that this war will not end until the IDF says so. It’s not up to us, it would seem after all.

Sure, I would love a new democratic Iran that looks like early ‘70s Iran as much as anyone but they can do that whenever they want. If they want some weapons and intel we should be happy to help but we also shouldn’t be putting the III Armored Corps in Tehran to assist either.
Do we really need to discuss the unconstitutionality of the War Powers Act and even in the false case that any Act of Congress could be applied to limit the Constitutional powers of the Presidency, the fact that Congress failed to revoke their permission was all the permission he would need to continue the conflict indefinitely.
Congress has 2 levers, and only 2, to stop a President from conducting war, 1) vote out the funds he needs to conduct it (or refuse to reauthorize those funds) but the issue resolves that the President can repurpose funds to continue for quite awhile so in the end their authority comes down to a single final lever… 2) Impeachment and conviction, the ultimate Trump card for an Executive that has lost the will of the people. Being that there are more than 34 Neocons in the Senate, he is at absolutely no risk of being convicted of any Articles of Impeachment over Iran even if the House were to somehow vote for them.
