So uh, does World Cup football have a Mercy Rule?

Anyone watching the Germany Brazil game?

5 - 0 Germany @ 29’. 4 goals within 10 minutes of each other.

It’ll be a “real” football score here in a few minutes.

Tomorrow’s headline: German Blitzkrieg in Brazil.

I hope that crowd doesn’t decide to get ugly.

What fans? 3/4 of them went home already.

In case you didn’t get the memo…

Soccer’s gay.

While many might contest that sentiment, there is no doubt Brazil took it in the . . .

It came out officially a few years ago!

Soccer announces that it’s gay

That said, I do play soccer every Sunday with friends.

Wait…Oh crap!

So what you’re saying is that the Brazilians got waxed??

Perfect!

My other response to your comment was:

“So do you think they waxed first?”

I couldn’t decide which one to use so I went with the cleaner one. (No pun intended)

Incredible match for a little while… Runaway there after… They’re will be a killing in Brazil…

Not exactly the Australia vs American Samoa… 31:0 lol

True it was a qualifier match, but still…

That was a beat down. Brazil failed to show up and Germany made them pay for it. There will be some pretty ticked off Brazilian folks tonight and until the next world cup. Getting trounced like that at home is a pretty big humbling. Don’t think Brazil has ever been beaten that badly before.

That was pure dominance by the German side, and complete breakdown by the Brazilians. I have never seen a match so one sided at that level before. But my Germanic heritage kept wanting more!

So the interwebz is chock full of some admittedly tasteless jokes and barbs following Germany’s pummeling of Brazil yesterday, rife with the expected nazi and Holocaust references. And, admittedly, some of them are pretty funny.

A representative tweet from yesterday:

“Stop with these nazi jokes! They’re not funny. Anne Frankly, they’re offensive.” (http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/07/nazi-holocaust-jokes-during-germany-brazil-world-cup.html)

Another referencing the obvious delight by many in watching the agony of Brazilian soccer fans:

“If only there was a German word for schadenfreude.” (http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2014/07/sports-is-for-schadenfreude/374131/)

Ricky Gervais had this to say: “This won’t be the first time that thousands of Germans will have to lie low in Brazil for a while for their own safety.”

So will Brazil rat out any retired Naismith after this?

I had previously ignored this thread due to the obvious…soccer being sooo gay. So glad I waited, because I just enjoyed some good laughs all at once. Thanks.

I don’t like the over reaction to injuries and flopping but it’s a tactic now that works too often so they do it. Most sports have some variation of it like football, basketball, and hockey.
