So I bought the cheap upper

After posting last week (or so) about uppers and sizes/types…

I bought this 16" Midlength for $340 last week when they were on sale from a place called AccessoryArms.

They used an Aero upper on mine… (sorry for the crappy cell pic).

Its got the 4150 CMV CL 1/7 Twist… F’ Marked FSB…

The M4 feed-ramps were GTG…

I like the fact the thing has a CL chamber as well.

I had them pin/weld the YHM Phantom Brake on for NJ compliance…

I used my Spikes BCG from my BCM upper.

Anyway I took it out today at 8:30am and 39’ F…

after adjusting the sights off the bag…

I shot this @ 50 yards while standing & unsupported…

overall very Happy…

Well that’s very nice but why not another PSA upper?

The cheapest PSA 16" Middy is $429 without the BCG or CH…

For $340 I got the same basic animal.

recent rumblings (about when i ordered this) about PSA having QC issues didn’t help there case any…

the PSA 16" Carbine upper I bought back in July was GTG… however I sold that to buy my BCM 14.5" BFH Middy upper back in September…

I was also looking at the PSA 16" with 11" Troy Extreme for $549 without the BCG… but then I re-read and its a Carbine…

AArms has a Daniel Defense 16" HF Midlength Upper and if I add the Troy 11 inch TRX (free install this week)… it works to be $620 without the BCG…

lets see a DD HF Middy vs. a PSA HF Carbine barrel… hmmm… $70 difference but I would get a DD barrel… and it would be a Middy which is ‘better’ on the system stress (IMHO)…

I got a couple of BCM uppers from Grant last summer on sale for $385 each (with charging handle). One was a 20" rifle and the other a 16" middie. Alas they are now $419. Also got BCM FA BCGs. Total $520 each. Why spend almost as much for something less?
I also got a 16" stainless PSA upper on sale a while back for $430 complete with everything. I’ve only sighted it in but no issues yet.
