I have voted for nothing but republicans (with two local exceptions who were personal friends)for my entire 35 year voting life. I would prefer DeSantis or even Haley, but I recognize that Trump has such a hold on his followers that they won’t get the nomination. I agree with you on everything but that bolded part. I refuse to vote for Haley, period. I think I am being pretty generous politics-wise to narrow it down to two candidates I will vote for; one wholeheartedly, and one reluctantly. No one other than those two though. I’m done with the McCains and Romneys of the Republican Party, and that is exactly what Haley is. No bueno amigo.
Now if some outside dark-horse conservative is brought in to fill a void then I might consider that person. A bit biased because he is my Congressman but someone like Mark Green of TN, or someone cut from that cloth. NOT someone already running in the primary though (no Ramiswamy either, don’t trust him).
I have NEVER hit a “D” lever in my life and won’t start in November. Worst-case scenario I just skip the POTUS lever and vote down-ballot.
She’s a RINO. She’s a bit of a warmonger (see stance on Ukraine). She is shrill like Hillary. Her register-the-internet-user comment smacks of Big Government. To top it off the fact that her support is largely coming from non-traditional sources (like donors who are not Republicans or conservatives) makes me think she is exactly the candidate the GOPe/Swamp wants, and therefore makes her exactly what I DO NOT want.

Yeah I’m in for DeSantis, but to my Haley point I see a lot of folks scoffing at the idea of Nikki but when I ask them to layout positions or policy that they disagree with none can. It’s just the usual rant about rino, warmonger, etc…

I actually like Haley’s stated positions, I just don’t trust her. Her fake moral outrage over Vivek mentioning her kids use Twitter and similar BS. She can’t defend herself or her positions without some manufactured drama so I don’t believe she will be any different in trying to enact any of those things.

I might not agree with Haley’s comment about making people reveal their identity on the social media, but Trumps actual action through Executive order “preventing online censorship” actually resulted in more censorship by social media.

I believe Haley would be far more likely to appease opposition from the Left than would DeSantis. That said, as governors both Haley and DeSantis had solid republican majorities to carry them. Hardly a proving ground for what would likely be awaiting them in Washington.
DeSantis had impressive national polling numbers prior to campaigning. But when GOP voters began to listen to what he had to say his support fell off a cliff. His policies aren’t far from Trump’s, so I think it’s fair to say that DeSantis simply can’t sell himself. This goes back to what you were saying earlier about Trump’s endorsement carrying DeSantis to the governor’s mansion. DeSantis needs to significancy outperform expectations in Iowa. Otherwise, he’ll be viewed as little more than a circling Vulture in hopes of democrat prosecutors taking down Trump.
