agreed.
+1 to that.
I am a tough customer for some companies. Why? Because I demand to be treated properly.
CS I have dealt with and how I feel about them:
SIG: Awesome, got a call-tag in my e-mail 15 minutes after my phone call and my 226 ST Elite was shipped, repaired, and back on my kitchen table in less than 5 days, phone-call to opening the box. Impressed the hell outta me, SIG is NOT a small company.
Robert @ Talon Arms: Awesome, sent me a new bolt for my Sabre the next business day, it arrived the day after he sent it. No questions asked, problem fixed. Huge +1
CProducts: Very polite, but very disorganized and unable to exchange 5 magazines within 1 month of my shipping them back. I am impressed only with Justin’s polite interaction with me and realise it is not his fault that the “shipping department” has problems with organization. +1 for customer communication, -1 for not being able to fix a very simple problem in a reasonable amount of time.
Sabre Defence: Called with technical questions before my AR purchase, was given the tech’s CELL NUMBER as he was on a trip (business). Very polite, honest, and informative, HUGE +1 !
What I will say for the above 4 is that when I call them, THEY PICK UP THE PHONE! They are polite, they do what they can within their power to rectify the situation, and my only complaint so far is CProducts disorganization between departments. In their favor though, Justin has been very polite and I have faith that eventually I will get my exchange (I was told it should ship monday…we will see.).
ADS would get a huge -1 in my book based on what has been said about their ignoring a question “because it was stupid”. Everyone I have dealt with is at least capable of communication. NO QUESTION is stupid if a paying customer asks it. It should be treated with respect, no matter how mundane or outlandish. Not everyone has a copy of the TDP in their briefcase and 3 combat tours under their belt. THey will have questions that might APPEAR stupid at times. That does NOT mean they should be treated stupid. Most people who ask questions thought ignorant could emberrass pretty much any industry partner in THEIR field, why insult them in yours?
The FSB and gas-port is a zero tolerance fitting. In my opinion, this means that blow-by should not be noticeable. Yes it may occur, but if you can see it, that is probably a bit much. Will it matter? Probably not. Is it indicative of less than perfect workmanship? I think so.
Just my $0.02
Actually, since the FSB is not press fit, it is not a zero tolerance fit and without some form of seal there will be blowby. It is perfectly normal and does not indicate poor workmanship nor will it affect function.
98Z28, if you carry this rifle on patrol ,you should get some Hornady 556 Tap ammo 77 grain/75 grain otm :D. If you run shit gas in your car you shouldn’t complain that it won’t run right ,I sure hope your not putting 87 octane gas in that LS1 . ![]()
Nope, lol, 10.25:1 compression ratio does NOT like 87 or even 89 octane really, even though LSX motors are tuned very rich from the factory.
I know my modifyed (456 rwhp)2000 Z28 (382 stroker )won’t even run on pump gas in the summer in AZ it has headers and sims no cat’s so I can get away with running 2 galons of Aviation fule with a tank of 91 octane… when it was stock I had to run 91 year round . my point was a duty AR shouldnt be fed crap ammo .
I long ago gave up that beautiful car as it did not fit me, my wife, two car seats and luggage very well (none of which I had or though I would have anytime soon when I got it - well, besides myself of course). But no, I never did put anything less than 92 octane in it. I sure would hate to have to pay for premium these days, but I do miss 0-60 in nearly 5 seconds. ![]()
As for duty ammo, I am still working through a pretty good stash of Federal TRU 64 gr. I do plan to try some 5.56 75 gr TAP in the next few months when my Federal dries up. If it runs well in my gun, I will certainly switch.
I was just shooting up some cheap ammo I still had on hand. Being something of an AR noob I panicked when I saw the evidence of a small gas leak for the first time. I also have never experience a problem with it in various cheap rifles. Of course, none of those rifles were running FA carriers or H-buffers and I’m pretty sure they all had larger gas ports (a couple RRA’s, and a couple Bushmasters). It is no wonder they ran fine on the under powered stuff.
As an update, I still have a little of the cheap lacquer coated Monarch stuff left. After a a couple thousand rounds of hotter ammo, the ADS seems to be digesting an occasional Monarch binge just fine.
Also for those interested, I still have not heard back from ADS. Although I am satisfied I do not have problem with this gun, I doubt I will be buying another ADS in the future.
