Smoke colored PMAGs are out to several batches of people for field testing.
As you would expect, they insert without needing any extra pressure, and lock in place with ease in several different lowers. This was done empty, with a partial load, and with a full 30 rounds. My batch is out running through training and quals with a MSgt buddy of mine, and I’ll start running them next week with fellow LE instructors.

A question for you. Has Magpul told you if they will be selling extra feed lip covers? I sent them an email, and have not received a reply yet.
I’m also wondering if they will release a version of the Ranger plates that will work with the Pmags.

Now THAT would be a reason for me to buy some of these. If they figure out a way to put a Ranger pull on the bottom I will most definately pick up a few. I like these even better than the window model.

I dig 'em. It will be interesting to see how the clear/smoked material holds up compared to the standard colors. Knowing Magpul, I have a strong suspicion they’re going to hold up fine.
Oh Stickman I’m disappointed. I could have sworn last time you showed pictures of smoked Pmags, you promised that the next time (this time) there’d be alternating M855 green tip and red tip tracers!! 
The Stick compound seems to have much more orange tip than red tip at the moment. How about a smoked PMAG loaded completely with orange tip?
well… how about the M249 loadout? like 3 green, one black one red?

Magpul is crazy swamped busy right now, so if you don’t get an immediate reply, don’t hold it against them. Then again, if their email is anything like mine, the spam filter eats some of my incoming items that it shouldn’t.

Oh Yeah… Uncle Harv is changing his mind on ordering OD and waiting for these smoke… what are we looking for for release date to the masses??
I became quite a fan of transparent poly magazines after I ran them in my SLR-106FR. I suspect I’ll be just as fond of the AR version…

They’re growing on me slowly. My first reaction was they’re very “Euro.” 
Will a standard 5.56 Magpul fit onto a PMAG? I think I have seen a picture of it but can’t remember where.

I got my test mags in. I’ll post once I get some rounds through them and try a few things with them.
These smoke colored version of the PMAGs are being made by Magpul for TPD USA which will include them in their to be released (maybe after next month) AXR rifle which are Steyr AUG type US made rifle that takes AR mags.
TPD said (from the ref thread below) that these should be available in about a month.
