Smith Vortex compatible suppressors????

I’ve heard all kinds of stuff about what suppressor may or may not be compatible with a Smith Vortex flash hider, but I need a definitive answer…

I’ve got a S&W M&P15TS with a pinned Smith Vortex that I would rather not mess with and I’d like to put a suppressor on it. What can I buy that would be an exact fit. I’ve heard that a HALO will work and also that the maker of the HALO says it WILL NOT WORK. Who has this flash hider with a suppressor on it? There must be something that will lock into place as-is?

Let’s here it…

From what I recall new manufacturing Halo’s will work. Older ones won’t

Im in the same boat you are with the pinned vortex, I have looked into this and am curious myself about it. I wached some video and read up on the HALO and from what it says it will work with the new adaptor that fits around the FH

Yes, the newer HALO’s work with the Vortex, if your buying an older one I would contact Gemtech for the year and SN# of the change, you can also tell by looking into the back of the suppressor there will be 4 lugs on the FH shelf this is where the prongs of the Vortex fits into mount, the only issue with the Vortex compared to the standard A2 FH is the locking collar on the HALO does not thread up as close to the suppressor with the Vortex, its about a 1/8-1/4 inch longer at the heal of the FH, not a problem it still locks in place, also make sure the weld from pinning is ground smooth, or pined on the flats of the FH, its a tight fit, and might be a issue…

The Smith and the Fisher suppressors are setup for direct attachment to the Vortex flash hider.
