I have a 2 point Vickers BFG sling and I am right handed and I wear the sling so that it rests over the right shoulder, so that when it drops it dangles left. But I saw Larry on Tactical TV and could have sworn he had his sling slung over his off-hand. If I recall correctly, he’s a lefty so he had the sling part over his right shoulder. Looks like this would allow you to move your AR to behind your back pretty easily if you needed to, which doesn’t seem to be the case when slung on your dominant side.
Did I see that correctly or was it TV magic? Or is it just some kind of LV thing? Or am I slinging incorrectly?
In episode 3(?), looks like Larry switches from left to right and you can see the sling draped over his right shoulder.
I don’t have a Vickers BFG sling (yet), but do have a “hybrid” sling that can easily be used as a two-point or single point sling. In the two-point version, the sling is draped over my right shoulder and under my left arm. Single point version, the sling is over my left shoulder and under my right arm. Of course, Your Methods May Vary accordingly.
May I suggest you get the book ‘Green Eyes & Black Rifles’ which will set you straight on Vickers sling set up & most anything else you will need to know to run your AR platform.
If you are right handed for both pistol and rifle, then the way you are currently running the sling over your right shoulder will make transitions to your pistol much easier. I think Larry shoots rifle left handed, but pistol right handed, hence the reason for his sling setup.
