Sling Mount Options...

I was looking at the VLTOR ambi sling plates for an LMT SBR build I’m working on.

There are so many options out there. I hear really good things about Gear Sector’s sling options. Daniel Defense looks like they have some right decent options. Now VLTOR’s got a sling plate.

Which one’s do you guys favor? I was planning on going with Gear Sector stuff…everyone on ARF.com raves about the Gear Sector stuff. What do you guys think?

My goal here is to end up with one hell of a nice LMT build…right down to the sling plates…

Exactly what kind of sling are you trying to run? Single point, 2 point, 3 point? One that uses HK hooks or QD swivels or …?

Yes, I guess I should have included that info.

I’m looking to run a single point sling preferably with QD swivels. I am a bit apprehensive about the QD swivels…they just seem sort of…well…not “heavy duty” enough. But everyone seems to say the have no problems with QD swivels…even in combat. I figure if they’re good enough for combat then surely they are strong enough for civi use.

Okay, well here are some options for you in the QD Swivel market:

TangoDown PR-4
Midwest Industries MCTAR-30 and MCTAR-30HD (toward bottom of page)

If you end up needing a flat end plate with a loop for an HK hook or slotted for webbing loop, the Vltor and Daniel Defense end plates are both excellent choices.

I tend to use the GearSector as it is the lowest profile one around, but its dedicated to a thinner sling. The DD variants work nicely, and I’ve got a few of those as well that I’ve been very happy with.

Magpul also has a new one out that is on one of my carbines.

PR-4 has been my favorite of the bunch, especially if you want to use the QD.
