Had a recoil spring an guide rod installed in my series 70 1911,now when it’s fired the slide stop engages the slide, what going on !
if it doesn’t do it when you put the original spring and plug in, then you’ve found your problem.
Changed spring, guide from anouther 1911,still doing the same thing !
Any change in the ammunition you are using?
with the slide assembly removed, put a full magazine in the pistol and check to see if the bullets are contacting the slide stop lug (the part which is pushed up by the tab on the magazine follower to lock the slide back on an empty mag), and causing it to be pushed up. another thing to look at is the plunger spring tension to see if it’s too weak and allowing the slide stop to bounce up under recoil.
Not sure why installing a spring an guide would cause this problem. Have ordered a new plunger spring,if that dosen’t work may just go back to the stock setup. Thanks for the help.
