On a 7.62X39MM AK, what are the differences between shooting a slant brake and a AK-74 brake? For this comparison, a 16" AK build.
- which would you choose and why?
- sound differences?

I can notice it alot. I put the 74 type on my Henderson Khyber and it makes a world of difference, especially in a light gun.
mark5pt56, So you liked the 74 type brake on your Khyber? Did you leave the slant brake off? I heard on HDI’s 47 builds / 7.62x39mm, changing between the slant and 74 type brake is fairly simple.
Honestly, with a semi rifle, I can’t tell any difference between the slant brake or a bare muzzle. Don’t quote me, but the slant brake is only really useful for full auto fire. I’ve fired a full auto AK with a bare muzzle, slant brake, and '74 style brake. The slant was better than the bare muzzle, but the '74 was very effective. Personally, I have rifles with both styles, as well as a few PWS J-Tac47 comps. Personally I prefer the PWS, over the slant or '74. If you’re looking for something more original I’d go with the '74 style. I’m about to order a PWS FSC47 to try out.
Easy, push the detent in and unscrew it. Remember, it’s left hand threaded.
FYI - the “slant” brake is 14x1 left-hand threaded. The “74” brake is 24x1.5 right-hand threaded. To use the later on a rifle designed for the former, you will need an adaptor.

I cannot tell any difference what so ever. Arsenal SLR107 w/ 74 break v. Vector Classic, both are polymer.
