Site Picture

Just curious to know. Was watching tactical arms on tv and the person had a camera mounted through his site picture. I noticed that his red dot aligned perfectly with the top of his post sight. When you guys are using your optics with your peep and post does your red dot sit on the top of your post? Mine seems to be half way down which is kind of annoying but still seems to be dead on out to 100 yards. I know most would say your iron sites may be off but when I’m using either one separately they both seem to be on.

Most folks prefer a bottom third cowitness. I prefer an absolute one, where the dot sits on the front site post. Most would agree, that your set up, with the dot in the middle of the post, makes no sense. You would be better off getting a riser to elevate the dot so where it either sits on the top of the post for “absolute” or sits above the post, forming a “bottom third cowitness”. Try both options and see which one suits you best.

I prefer mine on top of the post also.Plus that way when you’re sighting in it helps to get on paper faster.

I use a 553 which elevates the optic and puts the post in the bottom 1/3rd or so. So a normal cheek weld for the dot places it well above the post. When I drop my weld to use the irons, the dot is right at the top of the post where my irons are zero’d.

A few questions-

Are your irons zeroed?
Are your irons and RDS zeroed for the same distance?
What kind of cowitness do you have?
