Well I finally got around to making this video. I have been getting requests on it weekly. AAC TiRant 9&45 and Silencerco Osprey 9&45.
Enjoy!

Great Vid!
My observation was it seemed that 9mm wet was almost a waste. It seemed like you had a big mess to cleanup after shooting without much gain in suppression. The tirant 45 dry had a higher pitch(sound won’t carry far) and the osprey 45 dry had a lower pitch so the osprey seemed louder until the 3rd shot and then my ears seemed to like the tone more.
Wet the 45 osprey was rediculous on that 1911. I had never heard it in an open environment like that as I had only shot it wet in my backyard where I have too many sound reflecting surfaces. The 1911 with osprey45 wet was incredible!
Cool video. Thx for taking the time to make and post it.
I feel like the Tirant did better overall, but the Osprey sounded amazing on the 1911.
I personally am looking at 45 Osprey as i like the below baffle design.
Thanks for the video!
Take a look at the SWR octane 45! The osprey is great but the SWR OCT45 just has better features and it’s made by the same company anyway so the customer service is still the best!
I can’t blame AAC for the difficult to clean tirant series as they just simply listened to the customers and converted the design to a take down. It’s a royal PITA to clean. The Octane45 baffles wont bind to the tube wall like the tirant baffles do…
I agree with Fireman to take a good look at the SWR Octane 45 HD. I love my Osprey 45 but, see the benefits of keeping the baffles from getting clogged to the tube similar to my SS 22 Sparrow. Also with the SS baffles you can shoot FA and Magnum rounds. I received confirmation today from SWR that it will Handel 357 mag in a 10-12" Ruger 77/357 SBR I’m planing.
Thats a awesome can! recap…The Octane 45 can shoot 22,.380,9mm, .40, 45acp, 300blk out subs, and 357mag.:sarcastic: Im betting it can also handle 44spl but I would ask SWR first.
Thanks for taking the time to post the video.
Any ideas why the 1911 seemed quieter than the HK ? Just curious…
So the Ti-Rant can’t handle .357 mag or 300 BLK sub?
Good vid, I subbed to you Sir.
AAC told me the Ti-Rant would not handle 357 mag but, 38 spl was good to go. I didn’t ask about 300blk.
I’m guessing the 1911 has a longer lock time which keeps the port pop to a minimum.
The tirant is safe for use with 300blk out subs.
And thanks for subbing!![]()
Hey guys/gals!

I appreciate the videos. Would you mind going over what you mean when you describe the baffles binding on the Ti-Rant? I pretty much have it narrowed down between that can and the Octane. The main thing holding me back from the Octane is the 6061 tube vs titanium with the AAC.
Both Suppressors are similar in weight, and length. Where I think the Octane series shines over the Ti-Rant is that all the debris, gunk, or fouling is contained/separated in what they call CTA baffles. This way the baffles do not become stuck inside the serialized tube.
Suppressors that don’t have any separation between the baffles do require you to use a wooden dowel rod to knock them out when dirty. Which means you are using the baffles to scrape/clean the suppressor tube, and then you need to clean the inside of the tube with solvents/brushes.
On the Octane series you get a tube contained within a tube vs one Ti tube. Below is a video on how to disassemble the Octane series of Suppressors.

Also I know Byers you can get the Octane 45 for $ 640.00 that is cheaper then the Ti-Rant.
Hope that helps.
